K A DREAM START

To prepare for the AFC Champions League 2, Nam Dinh FC has "spent a lot of money" by registering 12 foreign players, of which more than half will only be used for the Asian tournament, not playing in the V-League. This is an unprecedented large investment, with the goal of repeating the achievement of reaching the round of 16 last season.

Although the road is still long, the foreign players of Nam Dinh Club have affirmed their value in the opening match against Ratchaburi at 7:15 pm yesterday (September 17). With 10 foreign players in the starting lineup (the only domestic player used was midfielder Ly Cong Hoang Anh), Nam Dinh Club overwhelmed the opponent. Both in terms of physical strength and technique - tactics, the Vietnamese representative was superior to the Thai team. Before Caio Cesar jumped up to score a beautiful shot into Ratchaburi's net in the 35th minute, Nam Dinh Club had created a dominant position with dozens of opportunities. The only shortcoming of the team from the South was the moments of mismatched coordination, because this was the first official match with the foreign players playing together. Although the pieces were not yet in place, leading to many situations of lack of coordination, with their superior class, the tall foreign players of Nam Dinh Club could still handle the match on their own.

For example, in the opening goal, Mahmoud Eid crossed the ball just in time for Caio Cesar to fly and shoot into the net. Or in the goal that doubled the gap in the 52nd minute, Percy Tau escaped to the bottom of the penalty area and then delicately flicked the ball back to Marlos Brenner to shoot into the roof of the Ratchaburi net. These were all very difficult situations, requiring quick, neat handling with high accuracy. In the 57th minute, it was the foreign players who created the goal when Mitchell Dijks crossed the ball for Marlos Brenner to head in to complete his double, raising the score to 3-0.

Although Ratchaburi scored a goal in the 60th minute, Nam Dinh FC still dominated the match to win 3-1, thereby taking the first 3 points in Group F AFC Champions League 2. Nam Dinh FC has the same 3 points and a goal difference of +2, so temporarily shares the top spot with Gamba Osaka (the team that beat Eastern 3-1) after the first round.

Nam Dinh Club Maintains Performance

If they maintain their momentum, Nam Dinh FC will be able to surpass rivals like Ratchaburi or Eastern to take one of the top two spots, thereby advancing to the round of 16 of the AFC Champions League. In the hands of Mr. Vu Hong Viet is a team of experienced and well-balanced foreign players, in which highlights like Caio Cesar, Percy Tau, Marlos Brenner or Mitchell Dijks have all gotten into shape.

However, due to playing in 4 arenas this season including V-League, National Cup, AFC Champions League 2 and ASEAN Club Championship, Nam Dinh FC will face a tight schedule. At least 11 group stage matches in international tournaments require coach Vu Hong Viet to rotate his team skillfully and calculate the appropriate performance points. However, with 12 foreign players and overseas Vietnamese, Nam Dinh FC shows serious ambition, with the desire to make a name for themselves in the Asian playground.

In the second round taking place on October 2, Nam Dinh Club will be a guest at Eastern (Hong Kong).
