At noon on October 27, in an official exchange with a large number of reporters in his office, Mr. Phan Thanh Phai, Principal of Phu Huu Primary School, Phu Huu Ward, Thu Duc City, affirmed: "The clip and article on social networks saying that these are images in the kitchen of Phu Huu Primary School, Phu Huu Ward are incorrect, because my school does not have a kitchen. These are images filmed by parents at the unit that provides meals for the school."

"On October 25, 2023, the school had a team inspect the school's boarding food supplier, accompanied by a parent representative. After everyone finished checking, this parent stayed in the kitchen and told the staff here to open the freezers to check the frozen food inside and film these images," said Mr. Phai.

"This parent also filmed some bottles of soy sauce with unknown labels, and some chicken feet as everyone saw on social media. But since the beginning of the year, students have not eaten that dish on the boarding menu. This is food cooked for the company's employees, but after cooking, they did not throw it away but put it there. The parent also invited me to come down and witness. I also commented at that time that the place to store food for students should be for students, the place for employees should be separate, I requested that it not be stored together like that," said Mr. Phai.

Regarding the company that provides meals for the above school, Mr. Phai said it is a company located in Long Thanh My Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City.

Urgent meeting with parents, immediately stop contract with meal supplier

The school said that from yesterday, October 26th until today, the school has temporarily suspended the organization of lunch for boarding students to handle the incident. Teacher Phan Thanh Phai also said that on the afternoon of October 26th, the school held an urgent meeting with teachers and parents in the school with the participation of about 50 parents.

Many children live far away, today, October 27, their parents had to buy lunch from outside to bring to class, asking the teachers to feed them so they can continue studying in the afternoon.

Students of Phu Huu Primary School are temporarily not eating at boarding school since October 26.

"That same afternoon, I asked the parents whether to continue with the boarding meal provider or stop immediately with this unit. Everyone agreed to terminate the contract with this meal provider. We stopped immediately with the above unit. I also said that parents should suggest introducing new meal providers so that the functional units of Thu Duc, together with the school and parents, will check the capacity of that unit to see if it is adequate before signing a contract to continue providing boarding for students. In the near future, regardless of which unit is signed, the school will continue to strengthen inspection and supervision of meal providers to ensure safety for students," said the Principal of Phu Huu Primary School, Thu Duc City.

Phu Huu Primary School has 1,002 students, about 700 of whom are boarders. This school year’s meal is 28,000 VND/student. Last year’s meal was 26,000 VND/student.
