In the face of the complicated developments of the flood, on the morning of October 7, comrade Pham Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Civil Defense Command of Thai Nguyen province directly inspected and directed the response and overcoming of the consequences of the flood in some areas in the province.

Faced with the rapid rise in the water level of the Cau River, exceeding the alarm level in many locations, Major General Bui Duc Hai, Director of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police, mobilized hundreds of officers and soldiers to coordinate with the Army and functional units to transport materials to reinforce the Cau River dike.
In addition, many areas in Quan Trieu ward and Viet Bac street were also deeply flooded, water flooded into people's houses, the police force urgently evacuated affected households to safety. Professional units such as: Fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue police; Traffic police; Mobile police, police of wards and communes of Thai Nguyen province also mobilized troops, set up shock teams to participate in rescue, rescue, and help people.
The police force has increased checks on residential areas, deep flooded areas, and landslides to warn and coordinate the evacuation of people to safe places; increased patrols and controls, promptly diverted traffic, and placed warning signs at flooded and landslide areas, resolutely preventing people and vehicles from passing through dangerous areas.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Triu, Head of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police, said that from 3 a.m. on October 7 until now, the unit has mobilized 100% of its personnel to spread out to the areas to use specialized vehicles to rescue people deeply flooded. "We have rescued hundreds of people from isolated areas, where floodwaters rose quickly to the roofs of their houses..., to safe places. For example, in village 1, Trai Cau commune, officers and soldiers had to use specialized equipment to remove the corrugated iron roof to get people out of their houses," he said.
In Dan Tien commune (formerly Vo Nhai district), the officers have not yet implemented an approach plan because the water is too high and flowing rapidly, and there are no electricity or signal, making it impossible to contact the people. There are many places flooded 4-5m, even in Trang Xa commune (also former Vo Nhai district), some houses are flooded up to the second floor, exceeding the historical flood level caused by the circulation of storm Yagi in 2024.





It is still raining in Thai Nguyen province and it is forecasted that the water will not recede by the end of tonight or tomorrow. In Quan Trieu ward, Thai Nguyen province - one of the wards deeply flooded due to heavy rain and floodwaters, Lieutenant Colonel Doan Cao Cuong, Chief of the ward police, said that previously, the People's Committee of Quan Trieu ward had established a ward civil defense command committee consisting of 80 members.




Immediately after receiving instructions from the Provincial People's Committee and the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police, Quan Trieu Ward Police proactively coordinated with the Ward Military Command and functional departments of the Ward People's Committee to review and list 44 points at risk of local flooding to develop a prevention plan. The plan assigned specific tasks to each member in charge, ensuring the safety of the risk points.
On the night of October 6 and early morning of October 7, Quan Trieu Ward Police also proactively assigned officers to each residential group to mobilize people to evacuate people and property to a safe place. Currently, the Ward Police have mobilized more than 50 officers and 131 comrades from the Security and Order Protection Force at the grassroots level to join the people in fighting the storm; mobilized 32 motorboats and boats of all kinds to support the people.
"We have brought more than 1,000 citizens out of flooded areas to safe shelters and are continuing to carry out our duties with the spirit of 'When people need us, when people are in trouble, the police are there'," Lieutenant Colonel Doan Cao Cuong affirmed.




Also due to the impact of storm No. 11, more than 300 transformer stations managed by Thai Nguyen Electricity Company were flooded, forcing power cuts, affecting more than 200,000 customers. It is estimated that about 50 electric poles were broken, collapsed or tilted; many meter boxes were flooded in the areas of Tan Long, Quang Vinh, Tuc Duyen, Phan Dinh Phung... so Thai Nguyen province is cutting off power in many places, it will take time to fix and handle the problem, ensuring safe and stable power supply for the people again.
Authorities advise people in flooded areas not to touch flooded equipment, wires or meters; immediately turn off the power source in the house when there is a risk of water entering the outlet or electrical equipment...
