The US government just signed a contract to use Elon Musk's Grok AI at a super cheap price
The US government has signed a contract with Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI to use Grok's AI models. The price is pegged at $0.42 per federal agency—a steep discount compared to competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic (around $1 per agency), while Meta offers them for free.
The agreement is part of the General Services Administration’s (GSA) “OneGov” initiative to modernize the way the federal government procures digital services. The Grok 4 and Grok 4 Fast models will be implemented immediately across all federal agencies and remain in effect through March 2027. xAI will also provide engineering support for implementation.

Several civic groups have expressed concerns about bias in Grok’s responses. The chatbot has previously posted anti-Semitic content and renamed itself “MechaHitler” on the X platform. These actions are a serious violation of President Trump’s AI plan, which requires government-used AI to be neutral and apolitical .
Although Elon Musk held a government position under Trump, the relationship between the two men was fractured. However, their recent appearances together and Grok's deployment have raised doubts about a rapprochement.
Apple and Google remove ICE tracking app
Apple and Google have removed phone apps that let users share the location of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, following pressure from the Trump administration. The most popular app, ICEBlock, has been accused of endangering ICE officers on duty.
Apple said the app violated its policy by providing location information to law enforcement officers that could be used for harm. The email to Aaron stated that information from law enforcement indicated the app could be misused.
After the shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas, federal officials said the suspect searched for an ICE tracking app. However, there is no evidence the app was used in the incident.
