Quang Tri Electricity Company: Urgently restore the power grid

QTO - When storm No. 10 made landfall in the Northern Quang Tri - Ha Tinh region, it caused a series of power poles to fall, many medium and low voltage lines to be broken, and thousands of transformer stations to lose power. In Quang Tri province alone, initial statistics recorded more than 200 power poles to fall, of which the Quang Trach and Bo Trach (old) areas suffered the most damage. However, thanks to the efforts of Quang Tri Power Company (PC) and timely support from the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC), as of 10:30 a.m. on September 30, 2025, basically 100% of communes and wards in Quang Tri province had electricity restored.

According to our records, in addition to the efforts from PC Quang Tri , since September 28, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of EVNCPC has been present at the scene to directly direct the response and quickly overcome the incident, soon restoring power to serve the people.

Early in the morning of September 29, 2025, EVNCPC held an urgent meeting to deploy a plan to mobilize forces and means to support the two provinces of Quang Tri and Ha Tinh to overcome the power grid system damage caused by storm No. 10. At the meeting, EVNCPC decided to mobilize 340 engineers and workers from 7 member Power Companies and the Central Power Services Company to urgently go to support and help overcome the problems after storm No. 10 in the two provinces of Quang Tri and Ha Tinh.

In Quang Tri province, EVNCPC has sent 205 people, including: 60 people from Hue PC, 50 people from Da Nang PC, 30 people from Quang Ngai PC, 25 people from Khanh Hoa PC and 40 people from Central Power Services Company... Before leaving for the mission,

EVNCPC General Director Ngo Tan Cu requested: In addition to the on-site force of PC Quang Tri, the mobilized units must prepare adequate means of transport, equipment, protective gear and depart immediately in the morning and early afternoon of September 29 to be present in Quang Tri and Ha Tinh in time. The goal is that on September 29, PC Quang Tri will try to restore power to 90% of customers. In particular, priority should be given to hospitals, key agencies and essential residential areas; at the same time, strive to restore the entire damaged power grid within 3 days, ensuring that the work will be completed by October 2.

Besides, EVNCPC determined that restoring the power grid after the storm is not only a production and business task but also the Corporation's social responsibility to the community.

Therefore, EVNCPC calls on all cadres, workers, engineers, and supporting forces to promote a sense of responsibility, solidarity, and close coordination with local units and authorities to quickly handle the incident and restore power to the areas affected by storm No. 10, contributing to stabilizing the lives and production of the people of Quang Tri and Ha Tinh. All mobilized engineers, workers, and on-site forces must strictly comply with safety regulations, maintain labor discipline, uphold a sense of responsibility while performing their duties, and ensure absolute safety for the forces participating in the recovery...

With the strong support from EVNCPC, from the afternoon of September 29 until now, EVNCPC engineers and workers have been working continuously day and night to gradually restore the load, bringing electricity back to hundreds of thousands of households in our province. Thanks to that, the "dark areas" caused by the power grid failure due to storm No. 10 have been urgently resolved.

As of 10:30 a.m. on September 30, 2025, basically 100% of communes and wards in Quang Tri province had electricity restored (of which 58/78 communes and wards had electricity restored, reaching 100%) and 479,692 customers had electricity restored after storm No. 10. Currently, only about 8% of customers in the whole province still do not have electricity.

"To accompany the workers, the PC Quang Tri Trade Union directly went to the scene, visited and encouraged the working groups of the Quang Trach, Bo Trach, Dong Hoi Power Management Team and the shock teams from the Southern Power Company to support. At the same time, the Company's Trade Union also acknowledged the sense of responsibility and efforts to overcome difficulties of the workers and engineers in the days after the storm. Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, an electricity customer in Phu Trach commune, confided: "Storm No. 10 caused a widespread power outage in Phu Trach commune because many power lines and poles were broken and collapsed. With such serious damage, people in our commune thought it would take many more days for electricity to be restored.

However, thanks to the urgent intervention of workers and engineers in the electricity industry, within just 2 days, most electricity customers in the commune basically had electricity restored to serve their daily life and production. We, the customers, highly appreciate the efforts of the electricity industry in focusing on taking customers as the center to wholeheartedly care for and serve them...".
