Changing lives from labor export
Ho Van Dong's younger brother in Ky Neh village, La Lay commune, Ho Van Luom (26 years old), boldly left his village to go to work abroad in 2022. After a year working as a construction worker in Japan, Mr. Luom not only paid off all his bank debt but also helped his family build a new, spacious house. Thanks to that, his family escaped poverty and their lives turned a new page.
Mr. Ho Van Dong shared: At first, our family strongly opposed Luom going to work far away. But he was determined to go there to develop the economy , at the same time learn experiences and exchange cultures. He said he would work at home and work there, so his family agreed to let him go.
Not only families in remote areas, right in the center of Quang Tri province, many young people also choose the path of overseas labor to get rich legitimately. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, in Nam Loc Dai village, Dong Thuan ward, after a period of time in Japan and Taiwan, is now completing procedures to go to Germany. Mr. Binh said: I have received active support from the locality in terms of legal documents, the bank created conditions for loans and the Youth Employment Service Center supported German language and vocational training before leaving the country.

Working abroad has opened the door to changing the lives of many young people in Quang Tri, helping them confidently step out into the world and assert themselves. Currently, Quang Tri workers work abroad in many industries: Manufacturing (mechanical, textile, leather shoes...), construction, agriculture , fisheries (fishing, aquaculture) and services (caring for the elderly, sick, domestic help). Workers' income ranges from 20-60 million VND/month, depending on the market.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy, Acting Director of the Provincial Youth Employment Service Center, said: Through the Youth Union's channel, the number of workers going abroad is increasing; mainly concentrated in traditional markets such as Taiwan, Japan, Korea and expanding to new markets such as Germany, Slovakia, Greece, France, etc. Currently, many employers are interested in the labor force in the Central region.
In fact, maintaining stable growth in traditional markets has affirmed the quality and reputation of Quang Tri's labor force. In addition, gradually expanding the market to Europe shows the province's initiative and flexibility in seizing new opportunities.
According to statistics, every year, over 8,000 Quang Tri workers go to work abroad under contracts. This is a significant number, affirming that the trend of choosing a career associated with international integration is increasingly being oriented by local people.
Proactive preferential loans for workers
To promote labor export activities, Quang Tri province focuses on promoting vocational training in the fields of manufacturing, construction, agriculture, fisheries and services. At the same time, the province signed cooperation agreements with traditional partners in Korea, Japan and expanded to European markets.
One of the highlights of the policy is the active participation of the Provincial Social Policy Bank. Ms. Tran Duc Xuan Huong, Director of the Quang Tri Branch of the Social Policy Bank, said: We will continue to focus on a number of key solutions such as proactively sourcing capital to fully and promptly meet the loan needs of workers; improving processes, simplifying documents, shortening approval time; at the same time, strengthening supervision and management of loans, closely monitoring the debt repayment situation of workers to promptly support and improve the efficiency of capital use.
Thanks to preferential loan policies, many households have had the opportunity to let their children access the international labor market. This not only helps to solve employment problems, reduce unemployment rates but also contributes to bringing foreign currency to the locality, creating resources for sustainable socio-economic development.
In the coming time, Quang Tri province will continue to research and expand the foreign labor market in association with improving vocational skills, foreign languages and culture for workers. The goal for the period 2026-2030 is to strive to send about 45,000 workers to work abroad under contracts. This will be an important driving force to promote socio-economic development, while improving people's lives.
