Regular and continuous use of information security support platforms provided by the Ministry of Information and Communications is one of the requirements of the Prime Minister for ministries, branches and localities in Directive 09 on compliance with legal regulations and strengthening information system security at all levels.

With the launch of the platform to support information security drills, the Ministry of Information and Communications has so far provided 5 digital platforms to help ministries, branches and localities in implementing network information security assurance work.

Four digital platforms were put into operation in the previous phase, including: Platform for managing information system security at all levels; platform for supporting coordination and incident response; platform for supporting digital investigation; and platform for managing, detecting, and early warning of information security risks.

Sharing the reasons for establishing and providing a platform to support information security drills, the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) said that since the end of 2021, Vietnam has started the process of converting from pre-existing scenario drills to real combat on real systems in operation.

This change is intended to enable incident response teams at agencies and organizations to practice their ability to handle cyber attacks on real systems, involving all processes, technology and people in the exercise.

According to statistics, in 2023 alone, nearly 100 combat exercises were organized, both on a national scale and individual exercises at ministries, branches, localities, and enterprises.

As a result, nearly 1,500 security vulnerabilities were discovered, including more than 900 critical and high-severity errors, attracting the participation of about 7,000 experts. At the same time, the professional skills of technical staff and defense capacity of agencies and organizations were improved.

However, large gaps in the effectiveness of information security drills between levels still exist, while many agencies face limitations in human resources, tools, funding and capacity to ensure information security.

To address the above challenge, the Department of Information Security has deployed a platform to support information security drills, providing free knowledge and information resources necessary to support drill activities.

According to the representative of the Department of Information Security, the platform supporting information security drills not only helps manage and organize drills professionally, but also digitizes processes, standardizes techniques, and connects experts with information security organizations.

“With the newly launched digital platform, the Department of Information Security aims to improve the quality and effectively coordinate network information security drills nationwide,” shared a representative of the Department of Information Security.

Informing VietNamNet reporter, representative of Vietnam Cyberspace Emergency Response Center - VNCERT/CC said that in the near future, the Department of Information Security will guide the use of the platform to support information security drills for ministries, branches, localities, organizations and enterprises in the network to respond to network information security incidents.

2024 is the 17th year of the Vietnam Information Security Day conference and exhibition hosted by the Vietnam Information Security Association. In addition to the plenary session on the topic "Information security for data infrastructure and national digital platform", the Vietnam Information Security Day 2024 event also has 1 panel discussion and 3 specialized workshops.

Topics discussed at the seminar and thematic sessions include: Preventing data loss and online fraud; applying AI to ensure information security in key economic sectors; protecting data to serve digital economic development; promoting cooperation to protect children in the online environment.

Assessing the ability to respond to cyber attacks through a real-life exercise Through the recently organized real-life exercise, agencies and units in the Government Cipher Committee had the opportunity to recognize and assess their units' response capacity to threats and attacks in cyberspace.
