Martyr Tang Chi Hung was born in 1949 in Vinh Loc town (now Chiem Hoa commune, Tuyen Quang province) in a farming family with a rich revolutionary tradition. In July 1967, when he was only 18 years old, he enthusiastically enlisted in the army and fought in unit C19-E66-F10, Tay Nguyen. During the fighting, he always showed his steadfastness and bravery, completing his assigned tasks excellently. On January 22, 1973, he heroically sacrificed himself on the Tay Nguyen battlefield, when he was only 24 years old.
After his death, his remains were buried at the Martyrs' Cemetery in Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province. Fulfilling the wishes of his relatives, the remains of the martyr have now been moved and buried at the Martyrs' Cemetery in Chiem Hoa Commune. This is a great encouragement for the family, as well as a source of pride for local officials and people.

During his revolutionary career, comrade Tang Chi Hung was awarded many noble prizes by the Party, the State and the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam: First, Second and Third Class Liberation Soldier Medal; Third Class Anti-American Resistance Medal; and many other certificates of merit.
