Together to stay safe from online scams

Yesterday, October 20, Ho Chi Minh City Police coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to launch the campaign 'Not alone - Together online safety' at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (Cho Quan ward).

The launching ceremony was broadcast online to junior high schools, high schools, vocational colleges... with about 1.9 million students participating.

Launching the campaign, Colonel Bui Thanh Truc - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police - said that cyberspace brings opportunities for learning, entertainment, connection, and creativity. However, where there are opportunities, there are also traps. In fact, there have been cases of bad guys taking advantage of social networks to spread false information, impersonating authorities and teachers, and even creating "kidnapping" scenarios to defraud.

In this situation, Ho Chi Minh City Police launched the campaign "Not alone - Together online safety" with the message: in the online world , no one is alone. Safety is only true when we protect each other.

The campaign aims to raise awareness among students and the community about the sophisticated tricks of online kidnapping criminals. Equip them with skills to prevent, identify and respond when encountering dangerous situations online. Build a sense of responsibility and solidarity, each young person knows how to protect themselves and be a "companion" to protect everyone.

Parents and teachers together

Mr. Truc affirmed that this campaign will only be successful if there is cooperation. Families need to join in and spend more time caring for and sharing with their children.

Teachers not only impart knowledge but also accompany and guide students in digital skills and self-protection skills.

When I watch a video on social media, I watch it very carefully, examining the character's hand movements, whether there is anything strange about the character's mouth, paying close attention to the background, checking to see if there is anything unusual about the content, whether the sound is distorted, or whether there is a strange sound that only appears in a certain part.
