By the end of 2025, how many new traffic projects will Ho Chi Minh City have?

Ho Chi Minh City plans to start construction on 20 and complete 25 transport projects before the end of 2025, including expressways, beltway 2, urban railway lines and many key intersections to improve infrastructure and reduce traffic congestion in the city.

Ho Chi Minh City is entering the "sprint" period to start construction on a series of key traffic projects and complete them by the end of 2025.

According to the Department of Construction, from now until the end of the year, the city plans to start 20 projects and complete and put into operation 25 projects to improve roads and promote economic development.

Projects that have started construction include the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway, the completion of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway interchange with National Highway 50, the Beltway 2 section from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street and from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street, metro line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong), and the expansion of the road connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway (section from An Phu interchange to Beltway 2).

In addition, projects to improve the environment, dredging, build infrastructure for the North bank of Doi Canal, Xuyen Tam Canal, upgrade and expand the DX144 subdivision road, build an underpass at the Phuoc Kien intersection, upgrade the roads connecting Long Ho Dau Tieng tourist area, DT992 from National Highway 51 to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway will also be implemented.

Upon completion, the city plans to put into operation projects such as An Phu intersection, Luong Dinh Cua street from Tran Nao intersection to Nguyen Hoang street, Chu Van An street from Binh Hoa intersection to Chu Van An bridge, My Phuoc - Tan Van extended road, component project 3 of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway phase 1, upgrading and expanding provincial road 994 from Nha Lon Long Son roundabout to national highway 51, and new road sections connecting to Cua Lap bridge in Vung Tau.

Currently, the Department of Construction continues to coordinate with the Urban Railway Management Board to adjust metro line 2, prepare to invest in the Suoi Tien - Binh Duong New City urban railway projects, railway line 2 in Binh Duong and the Ho Chi Minh City - Loc Ninh railway line, Di An - Bau Bang section.

The Department of Construction is also completing feasibility study reports for key BOT projects under Resolution 98 to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The Department of Construction said it is reviewing the transport infrastructure network in Ho Chi Minh City (including Binh Duong and the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau) to develop an investment and development plan for the 2026 - 2030 period to ensure consistency.

Investment in Cai Mep - Thi Vai port infrastructure and Cai Mep Ha free trade zone is also being vigorously implemented to improve operational efficiency, while also completing clean water supply programs, reducing flooding, treating wastewater, and developing public parks and trees.

Traffic works started and inaugurated on September 2nd

On September 2, Ho Chi Minh City put into operation Rach Tom Bridge, Phu Tho Multi-purpose Circus - Performance Theater, new schools, social housing project No. 4 Phan Chu Trinh, along with dredging, infrastructure construction and environmental improvement of the North bank of Doi Canal.

On August 19, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project started the bomb and mine clearance package, and began construction of the Dinh intersection (old district 12) to relieve the congestion on Highway 1. Phase 1 of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway intersection connecting Nhon Trach bridge has opened to traffic.
