On November 23, Mr. Huynh Van Khai, Director of SOS Phu Quoc General Clinic ( Kien Giang ), said that the clinic's doctors had just treated a 2-year-old boy who was bitten by a red-tailed green pit viper.

At around 8:30 p.m. on November 22, a 2-year-old boy named NTĐ (living in Ham Ninh commune, Phu Quoc city) was brought to the SOS Clinic by his parents in a state of pain and severe swelling at the bite wound on his right foot.

Baby D's right foot was swollen due to being bitten by a red-tailed green pit viper.

According to family members, at around 7:30 p.m. the same day, they discovered the baby had pain in his leg and a wound suspected to be a snake bite, so they quickly took him to the clinic for examination.

After examining and identifying the bite, the medical team concluded that the baby had been bitten by a red-tailed green pit viper. Immediately after, the doctors injected antivenom serum into baby D. After the injection, the doctors let the patient stay in the clinic for observation until after 11 p.m. the same day, when his health was stable, they allowed him to go home.

On the morning of November 23, the family took baby D. to the clinic for a check-up. After testing, the baby's health condition was stable so he was allowed to go home for continued care.

A representative of SOS Phu Quoc Clinic said that recently, many people bitten by red-tailed green pit vipers have come to the clinic for emergency serum injections.

Explaining the recent increase in the number of red-tailed green pit viper bites, many locals said that this year Phu Quoc has had a lot of rain, and the humid environment is favorable for red-tailed green pit vipers to reproduce.
