The only Vietnamese representative to report at the 2025 Asian Lung Cancer Conference

(Dan Tri) - Among hundreds of international experts, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Huu Vinh from Nam Saigon International General Hospital is the only Vietnamese representative in the Professional Board at the Asian Lung Cancer Conference.

Bringing Vietnamese voice to international medical forums

As a member of the Professional Board, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Huu Vinh also holds many other important positions, such as discussion session chair and topic council member.

Dr. Vinh brought to the conference a passionate report on the topic "Building and developing the specialty of Thoracic Surgery in Southeast Asia".

This is a topic of strategic significance in the context of the increasing incidence of lung cancer in the region, requiring a comprehensive and synchronous treatment system.

In particular, Dr. Vinh particularly emphasized the central role of thoracic surgeons in the entire process of caring for lung cancer patients - from screening, early diagnosis to treatment and palliative care.

Regional connectivity to enhance treatment capacity

As a member of the Southeast Asian Thoracic Surgery Association, Dr. Vinh shared about the development orientation of a modern, multi-disciplinary, multinational thoracic surgery network, aiming to improve the quality of treatment and expand life opportunities for patients in the Southeast Asian region.

Specifically, the regional cooperation network (The SEAT) was established with many goals. These are: sharing treatment data and research results; Organizing international training on endoscopic surgery, robotic applications, especially in difficult cases; Promoting joint clinical research and technology transfer between centers, helping to narrow the treatment gap in the region.

According to Dr. Vinh, cooperation is the key to improving the quality of thoracic surgery across the ASEAN bloc.

The Asian Lung Cancer Conference (ACLC 2025) is the largest conference of the year of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), bringing together more than 500 leading experts, scientists and doctors in the field of lung cancer.

This year, the conference was held for the first time in Vietnam, organized by the Vietnam Medical Association and the Vietnam Young Physicians Association in collaboration with IASLC.
