In 2026, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) will have 3 rounds of thinking assessment exams, starting from January, but each round will start about 1 week later than in 2025. Specifically, the 2026 thinking assessment exam schedule, round 1: Exam date 24-25/1/2026; registration date 5-15/12.
Phase 2: Exam date 14-15/3/2026; registration date 5-15/2/2026.
Phase 3: Exam date 16-17/5/2026; registration date 5-15/4/2026.

Detailed structure of the TSA exam
The Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) aims to assess three basic thinking abilities of students, including: mathematical thinking, reading comprehension, and scientific thinking/problem solving - important factors that help students learn best in a higher education environment.
The test consists of 3 parts: mathematical thinking (60 minutes), reading comprehension (30 minutes) and scientific thinking/problem solving (60 minutes).
These are 3 independent tests, the test questions will focus on assessing the thinking ability of the candidate in each test, not directly testing the knowledge of any subject. The test format is multiple choice on computer, the test results will be valid for 2 years to serve the university admission work.

In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will organize 3 exam sessions on weekends with 30 exam locations in Hanoi and cities and provinces including Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang; serving nearly 57,000 exams with a total of more than 28,000 candidates.
The results are used by more than 50 universities for university admissions for the 2025-2026 academic year.
