Following the success of high-performance versions such as Vantage S and DBX S, Aston Martin continues to affirm its position in the luxury sports car segment with the launch of DB12 S. More than just a simple power upgrade, DB12 S is a comprehensive refinement from engine, suspension to aerodynamics, creating a sharper and more powerful Super Tourer, for drivers looking for a difference.

Refined aerodynamic design

Overall, the Aston Martin DB12 S retains the classic Grand Tourer shape but is complemented with aerodynamic details to optimize performance. The car is launched with a unique Ion Blue paint from the Q by Aston Martin personalization department, creating an attractive appearance at first sight.

The front of the car has been redesigned with a two-level splitter, which helps lower the center of gravity and widen the car's shape, while increasing downforce and stabilizing the airflow around the front wheel wells. The matrix LED headlights still retain their distinctive design with 6 independent lighting blocks. The hood has additional air vents, which not only increase aesthetics but also improve cooling for the engine compartment. Customers can choose this detail painted in gloss black or finished in 2x2 Twill carbon fiber.

Compared to the standard version, the DB12 S's ride height is lowered by 5mm, contributing to improved handling. The car is equipped with 21-inch alloy wheels with three different design options. At the rear, the biggest difference is a refined air diffuser and completely new vertical dual exhausts. A small fixed spoiler on the luggage compartment lid enhances stability at high speeds. The exquisitely crafted "S" badge is the final mark to distinguish this high-performance version.

Luxurious and performance-focused cockpit

Inside, the Aston Martin DB12 S retains the standard version's modern layout with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen developed by Aston Martin. However, the British automaker has brought exclusive material and trim options to enhance the experience.

Customers can choose between two main interior styles: Accelerate, which combines leather and Alcantara, and Inspire S, which uses premium semi-aniline leather and Alcantara. 16-way power-adjustable Sport Plus seats are standard. For a sportier experience, buyers can upgrade to the Carbon Fibre Performance Seats, which significantly reduce weight and provide increased body support during cornering. A subtle touch in the cabin is the drive mode selector, finished in anodized red metallic.

In terms of amenities, the DB12 S comes with a standard 390W 11-speaker Aston Martin sound system, or an optional upgrade to a 15-speaker 1,170W Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and wireless charging are also standard.

Power from a refined V8 engine

The heart of the Aston Martin DB12 S is still the familiar 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine, sourced from Mercedes-AMG, but has been refined and hand-assembled by Aston Martin engineers. This engine produces a maximum capacity of 700 horsepower and a maximum torque of 800 Nm, an increase of 20 horsepower compared to the standard DB12.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The Launch Control function has been recalibrated to reduce shift times by more than 50%, allowing the Super Tourer to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the standard version. Top speed remains at 325 km/h. For added excitement, customers can opt for a titanium sports exhaust system, which is 11.7 kg lighter and produces a more powerful sound.

Chassis and Suspension: Elevating Agility

Not only is the DB12 S more powerful, it also has significantly improved handling. The car is equipped with a carbon ceramic brake system as standard, with 410 mm diameter brake discs at the front and 360 mm at the rear. This equipment reduces the unladen weight by 27 kg compared to traditional steel brakes, improving response and braking performance in extreme operating conditions.

The Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers have been given a software update, which helps to better control lateral and longitudinal body oscillations. Along with that, the steering system and electronic limited-slip differential (E-diff) have also been refined to provide a more responsive and precise driving feel, especially when cornering at high speeds.

Price and positioning

The Aston Martin DB12 S will be available in both Coupe and Volante guises, with deliveries expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026. Pricing has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be higher than the standard DB12's starting price of $250,000. The DB12 S will be sold alongside it, serving as the pinnacle option for customers who demand the highest levels of performance and exclusivity in the brand's Super Tourer range.

Conclude

The Aston Martin DB12 S is not a revolution, but a convincing evolution. By refining an already successful formula, Aston Martin has created a car that is not only faster in a straight line, but also more engaging and precise on winding roads. With more power, sharper suspension and exclusive design details, the DB12 S is the pinnacle of the iconic Super Tourer.
