Collection of more than 40 supercars of Syrian President Assad

(Dan Tri) - Deposed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is said to own a luxury car collection of up to dozens of cars.

The New York Post reported that when Syrian opposition forces stormed the capital Damascus and took control of President Bashar al-Assad's residence, they discovered a fleet of luxury cars including Mercedes, Porches, Audis and Ferraris.

Videos shared on social media show anti-government gunmen and Syrian civilians touring a massive garage in the presidential palace, filled with high-end convertibles.

Some of the cars in the video include a red Ferrari F50, which typically sells for more than $3 million, a Lamborghini, a Rolls Royce, and a Bentley. At least one of the cars has a Damascus license plate.

The Syrian presidential palace is located in an upscale residential area in the capital Damascus and is built of marble.

Mr. Assad and his family abandoned the compound and boarded a plane to leave the country before anti -government forces stormed the building. According to Russian media, Mr. Assad’s family has been granted asylum in Russia and is in Moscow.

Previously, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Syrian President Assad had resigned and left the country after reaching an agreement to peacefully transfer power with opposition forces.

According to images shared on the media, after opposition forces took control of the presidential palace, Syrian people flocked here to visit a place they had never been allowed to enter before.

Many people came and took away valuable furniture and art.

One video shows what appears to be an arsenal filled with submachine guns. "I imagine he and his entourage think they have enough ammo and are invincible, unshakeable," the person filming the video commented.

In another video, a network of bunkers was discovered deep beneath the building, with the concrete floor littered with what appeared to be empty cigar boxes and gun cases. "He dug the bunkers hundreds of meters deep," the poster said.

The presidential palace was not the only place that was ransacked after the fall of the Assad regime. A video shared on social media showed a group of people storming the headquarters of Syria’s central bank, taking bags full of money and other valuables.

"Wise people don't go to the presidential palace to dig things up, but go to the bank to get cash and gold," said one social media user.
