Director Nhat Trung "asked" for his mother's story to be included in a Tet movie

Nhat Trung revealed that when he heard his mother tell the old story, he asked her for those materials to put in the movie Tet 2024 - Meeting the Pregnant Sister Again .

The meeting to introduce the film Meeting the Pregnant Sister was held on the afternoon of January 15 in Ho Chi Minh City. This was also an opportunity for the film crew to share behind-the-scenes information about the preparation and filming process.

According to director Nhat Trung, the story in Meeting the Pregnant Sister was inspired by his own mother: “In one conversation, my mother told me about her life dreams. However, those dreams seemed to have stopped after giving birth to me. I found that noble and sacred. That idea developed into this script.”

When asked if Meeting the Pregnant Sister has any connection to his very successful Tet film – Getting the Pregnant Wife Back (2019), director Nhat Trung shared that when surveying the Vietnamese film market, he found that there were not many films about the journey of motherhood. For him, this journey is cute, precious and meaningful, so he decided to continue. He chose a close approach to develop the project.

It is known that the project was originally called Thanh Xuan . However, after sitting down to discuss with the publisher, the crew decided to choose the name Meet the Boss again for ease of understanding and remembering.

In the cast, notably there is the first participation of the recently married couple Anh Tu and Dieu Nhi.

According to Dieu Nhi, she really liked this script so even though the male lead role was not Anh Tu, she still accepted.

"I always look at the script to see if I like it and can relate to it, if this role is any different from the last one, and if it makes Dieu Nhi act differently. I also put pressure on myself to surpass past roles," the actress shared.

The actress also confided that to get into character, in addition to her own experience, she also borrowed experience from friends and discussed carefully with the director to portray the character in the most realistic and psychological way.

Known to audiences through her comedic roles, she hopes that through this film, audiences will see different aspects of Dieu Nhi's acting.

For his part, Anh Tu said that when he started filming, he felt lucky because the crew had the participation of actress Le Giang and always received sensitive comments. According to him, this was a script that suited him and he wanted to experience the character. Anh Tu also confided about his decision to "cut his hair", thinking it was the right thing to do.

It is known that, in addition to his role as an actor, Anh Tu also invested in the film. Although he did not disclose the specific amount, according to him, it was not a little and not a lot.

Meeting the Boss revolves around a group of young people pursuing their dream of making films in bustling Saigon. Everything begins with the fateful encounter between Phuc (Anh Tu) and Ngoc Huyen (Dieu Nhi), making him a part of the group of friends at Mrs. Le's (Le Giang) boarding house.

With the help of his new friends, Phuc has more opportunities to become an actor. A big turning point comes to the group when Huyen suddenly becomes pregnant. She refuses to reveal the identity of the child's father and wants to raise the child alone.

The film is expected to be released in theaters from February 10 (the first day of the Lunar New Year).
