Auction of 'super VIP' license plates of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, license plate 30K-567.89 on the market for the third time

Vietnam Auction Joint Stock Company has just announced that it will organize an online auction of a series of "super VIP" car license plates from Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and some other localities.

License plate 30K-567.89 will be put up for auction for the third time.

In the above list, the license plate that has attracted the most attention is 30K-567.89 of Hanoi, which will be auctioned on December 6.

This license plate has been successfully auctioned twice, but because the winning bidder did not fulfill his financial obligations, it is now being auctioned for the third time.

The first time, the license plate 30K-567.89 was bid for more than 13 billion VND, the second time it unexpectedly increased to nearly 17 billion VND. However, because both times the property could not be successfully sold, the state budget only collected 80 million VND, the deposit that the auction winner was fined.

Recently, the pilot auction of license plates has brought many positive signals. "Tycoons" who have a hobby of owning beautiful license plates have their needs satisfied by public and transparent auctions; the state budget has a large additional revenue from this activity.

However, the phenomenon of people winning the license plate auction but then abandoning the deposit also makes many people wonder. Because this more or less has a negative impact on the auction activity, in terms of time, money and effort.

Auctioning car license plates has brought a large source of revenue to the budget.

To limit the above situation, some National Assembly deputies proposed amending regulations related to asset auction activities in general, including car license plate auctions in particular.

The amendment is to increase the deposit for each license plate put up for auction (instead of only 40 million VND as present), or apply a contract penalty based on a percentage of the value of the auctioned license plate if the auction winner abandons the deposit.

Some opinions suggest studying administrative sanctions for auction winners who forfeit their deposits, or not allowing them to participate in subsequent auctions.

Previously, to prepare for the license plate auctions, the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security publicly announced a list of more than 153,000 car license plates from 63 provinces and cities.

The starting price of a license plate is 40 million VND, each step is 5 million VND. Bidders need to deposit 40 million VND for each license plate they want to participate in and 100,000 VND for the application fee.

In case of winning the auction, within 15 days from the date of announcement of the results, the auction winner must deposit the entire auction winning amount (minus the 40 million VND deposit) into the Ministry of Public Security's specialized collection account. After this period, the auction winning result will be canceled and the license plate will be put up for auction again.

If the auction is not won, the 40 million VND deposit will be refunded to the customer who bid for the license plate within 3 working days.
