Promoting the deployment of 5G and IoT infrastructure in industrial parks and clusters

The Provincial People's Committee has just issued Plan No. 074/KH-UBND dated September 29, 2025 on deploying 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure in industrial parks and clusters in the province in 2025. This is considered a step to concretize the province's digital economic development strategy, aiming to promote digital transformation and digital economic growth.

The plan aims to shift telecommunications infrastructure to information technology infrastructure, developing synchronous and modern digital infrastructure. 5G network with super-fast speed, extremely low latency and large connectivity will be the foundation for deploying advanced IoT applications, helping businesses optimize production processes, reduce costs, increase productivity and product quality.

Currently, Dak Lak province has 07 industrial parks and 22 industrial clusters with diverse levels of development. . Network operators have covered 4G widely, however, the deployment of 5G and IoT networks is still in the early stages and is not synchronized. .

The total number of mobile information transmission and reception stations (BTS stations) existing in the province is 4,526 stations. . Of which, 3G/4G stations account for 99.82% (4,518 stations), and 5G stations currently have 262 stations (accounting for 5.79%). .

In 2025, Dak Lak province aims to increase the total number of 5G stations to 946 stations (accounting for 20.90% of the total number of stations). Specifically, telecommunications businesses will: Invest in building 684 new 5G stations; convert existing BTS stations and build 63 new stations.

In parallel with the construction of 5G stations and core networks, the plan also focuses on deploying an IoT device management platform; developing initial IoT applications such as environmental monitoring, asset management, and production line optimization. ; technical training on how to use and manage 5G and IoT solutions.

Funds for implementing the Plan will be mobilized from telecommunications enterprises. .

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Science and Technology to preside over, monitor, and urge telecommunications enterprises to deploy 5G infrastructure development and synthesize and report implementation results to the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Provincial People's Committee before December 25, 2025. .

The Department of Construction and the Management Board of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones of the province are responsible for guiding and inspecting the construction and installation of infrastructure to ensure planning and reviewing and simplifying administrative procedures related to the licensing of construction and installation of telecommunications and IoT infrastructure. The Management Board is also responsible for creating favorable conditions for network operators to survey and access potential locations to install 5G BTS stations.
