In the first 9 months of this year, the whole country has completed nearly 51,000 social housing units and it is expected that by the end of this year, another 38,600 units will be completed, which is only nearly 90% of the target of 100,000 social housing units this year.
According to records at a social housing project in Hanoi invested by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUD), this project is on schedule and located in a location that is considered to have a very high real demand for social housing.
After nearly 2 months of construction, the foundation of 3 blocks has been completed and the floors have begun to be built according to the design. It is expected to be completed and handed over by the end of next year, bringing the total number of social housing apartments here to more than 1,000.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Deputy General Director of HUD Housing and Urban Development Investment Corporation said: "With the current progress, we will ensure the handover to the people as committed for them to move in and will also ensure the house price, housing fund for the city as well as the quality of the project".
In the first 9 months of this year, the whole country has completed nearly 51,000/100,000 units according to the set target. Of which, 16 localities are expected to reach or exceed the assigned target and 7 localities are capable of completing the target.
However, there are still many localities that are not developing as expected, many projects are still stagnant. For example, at the XH1 Social Housing Project in Area C - An Van Duong New Urban Area, Hue City. Although construction started in March this year, pile driving was only carried out at the end of September, due to procedural problems.
This year, Hue City aims to provide more than 1,270 social housing units to the market. Most of these projects are facing problems with site clearance, slow issuance of land use right certificates, and bank loan procedures.
Mr. Le Toan Thang - Deputy Director of Hue City Department of Construction said: "Currently, we are focusing on shortening procedural processes and coordinating with investors to review and shorten the processes."
Up to now, the target of completing 100,000 social housing units nationwide this year is behind schedule. Therefore, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requires "to do it for real, effectively, and for people to benefit for real", no locality can be left out because "there is no province or city that does not have a need for social housing".
