On the afternoon of September 16, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy attended a meeting with a delegation from the Vietnam - Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA), the Gyeonggi Provincial Science and Technology Promotion Agency (Korea) and representatives of Pangyo High-Tech Valley enterprises.
Welcome to expand scientific and technological cooperation with international partners
Gyeonggi is one of 12 Korean provinces that are sister cities to Ho Chi Minh City. This locality owns Pangyo High-Tech Valley - a modern technology research and development complex, with strengths in information technology, biotechnology and cultural technology.
Speaking at the reception, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy acknowledged VKBIA's efforts to connect Vietnamese and Korean enterprises, and welcomed the presence of Gyeonggi province enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City.
Ms. Thuy shared about the vision and development strategy of Ho Chi Minh City, especially in the fields of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, towards the goal of being in the Top 100 livable cities in the world by 2030 and 2045.
In that spirit, Ms. Thuy affirmed that the city always welcomes expanding cooperation opportunities with international partners.
"In that development journey, we expect to continue to receive companionship and support from international friends, including Korean enterprises. In particular, science and technology is an area that the city always attaches importance to and considers as a key factor in the sustainable development strategy and creates a solid foundation for innovation," the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee emphasized.
Building a 'Silicon Valley' in the megacity of Ho Chi Minh City

For his part, the representative of Pangyo High-Tech Valley introduced the development model of "Korean Silicon Valley", as well as presented experiences in building an innovation ecosystem, supporting start-ups and attracting high-tech investment.
Pangyo proposed that Ho Chi Minh City build a Vietnam - Korea Innovation Connection Center, develop similar "Silicon Valleys" in the megacity of Ho Chi Minh City, and attract capital flows from Korean and international investment funds into the International Financial Center.
Korean businesses also hope that the city will continue to facilitate policies and procedures to make it easier for Korean technology businesses to participate in the Ho Chi Minh City market.
VKBIA is committed to playing a bridging role, promoting substantive cooperation activities, creating conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to learn from Pangyo's experience and participate in the global value chain.
Responding to the above proposals, Ms. Thuy welcomed the industrial orientation, innovation, high technology, transformation and smart city development of Gyeonggi province enterprises, and committed to creating a favorable environment for investment activities.
The city's leaders also assigned departments, branches and sectors to coordinate research and advise on the above proposals, including the construction of the Vietnam - Korea Innovation Center and attracting international investment capital.
