August 4, Dr. Le Van Ut - group leader Research on scientific measurement and research management policy, Van Lang University - said that this unit has just announced the ranking of research article achievements in the first half of 2025 of higher education institutions in Vietnam (SARAP Ranking 2025-0.5) based on the use of data from American standard scientific journals (WoS - Web of Science) as a basis for ranking criteria.
Accordingly, the top 10 Vietnamese universities in terms of research article achievements in the first half of 2025 have changed compared to the same period in the first half of 2024.
Ho Chi Minh City National University is still at the top with 850 WoS research articles, contributing 13.18% to the country's achievements.
Ranked second is Hanoi National University with 510 articles, accounting for 7.91% of the country.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology rose to 3rd place with 373 articles, accounting for 5.79% of the country.
The remaining representatives in the top 10, in order, include Duy Tan University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Can Tho University, Hue University, Phenikaa University, Ton Duc Thang University, Van Lang University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.
Thus, one representative has been dropped out of the top 10 compared to the same period and at the same time two new representatives have joined the top 10, Phenikaa University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics. The order in the top 10 also has many significant changes, in which Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy increased from 8th to 5th and Hue University from 10th to 7th.
What is special is that the total achievements of 11 universities in the top 10 account for 47.49% of the country's research article achievements.
Vietnam currently has 264 higher education institutions and as a result, 68 educational institutions are included in SARAP Ranking 2025-0.5 and are classified into 53 ranks (because there are cases of duplicate ranks).
The next higher education institutions to make it into the SARAP's research article achievement rankings in the first half of 2025 include: Top 20 are Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Hanoi Medical University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Da Nang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, Thai Nguyen University, FPT University, National Economics University, Hanoi University of Industry, Le Quy Don University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
Top 30 include: Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, VinUni University, Hanoi National University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Water Resources, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vinh University, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
Universities significantly increase the number of research articles
In the top 10, most universities and schools have significantly increased WoS research articles compared to the same period. Ho Chi Minh City National University increased by 202 articles. Hanoi National University increased by 105 articles.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Hue University respectively increased by 68 posts.
Can Tho University added 54 articles, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy added 86 articles. Phenikaa University added 72 articles.
Notably, Dong Nai University of Technology's achievements have more than doubled compared to the same period.
