The musical De Men extra story will be performed at Military Zone 7 Stadium (Duc Nhuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) on October 25. Musician Viet Anh combines music and theater, aiming for the dream of bringing De Men, a symbol of Vietnamese literature, to fly far out into the world.

Musician Viet Anh ( The Wandering River, Night Dreaming of the City, No More Autumn ) is no stranger to musicals. The Cricket Extra Story is his big and passionate project in this field.

Taking on the role of musical scriptwriter, musician Viet Anh wants to breathe musical soul into an iconic character of Vietnamese literature.

He shared: "The music in the Cricket Extra Story not only illustrates the story but is also a flow of emotions, leading the audience through each adventure and step of maturity of Cricket."

The musician spent many years searching for musical materials, experimenting with blending classical and romantic spirit with modern and youthful breath. The music will be a fusion: both full of musical style and close to the present.

Accompanying Viet Anh is conductor and music director Tran Nhat Minh, who will bring the power of harmony and arrangement. The stage part is handled by director Phuc Hung and art director Phuc Hai.

Ticket selling pressure when making the musical De Men

Musician Viet Anh told Tuoi Tre Online : "Each new staging is a time of pressure. There are different difficulties. This time, De Men has left the safety zone of Ho Chi Minh City Theater to come to Military Zone 7 Stadium with a new script, new staging, and new stage.

The busy schedules of the participating artists, the pressure to improve, to surpass themselves, to reach a more diverse audience, or the production and ticket distribution stages.

However, I am very happy to feel the spiritual and all-round support of the participating artists, to feel the camaraderie and love of art from my teammates."

Production director KiKi Tran said the vision for the De Men Creative project - including the musical De Men spin-off - includes many future activities. De Men Creative is an art, entertainment, and education project, helping children and families access pure Vietnamese musicals. The October 25th performance is the opening activity.

"Although we know there will be many difficulties, as the general audience is not familiar with this form of performance, especially in approaching and convincing the audience to come to the show, the crew believes this is a product that deserves to be widely spread and introduced more" - KiKi Tran said.
