The ceremony was organized by the Vietnam Stature Fund (VSF), the Youth Union of Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank, the National Volunteer Center and the Vietnam Youth Union of Hoa Binh province.
With a total construction cost of 382 million VND, the school includes two classrooms. This is the first primary and secondary school in Bua Coc - a resettlement area for people severely affected by the historic flood in 2017.
The new school brings better learning conditions for students in Bua Coc hamlet.
Although the State invested in building infrastructure, providing residential land, farming land, and providing financial support to stabilize their new lives in the early days of resettlement, the lives of 70 households with 269 people of Muong and Tay ethnic groups in Bua Coc hamlet still face many difficulties. In particular, children in the hamlet have to travel dozens of kilometers to go to school every day because the hamlet does not have a school for primary school and above.
“The completed project will help bring a spacious, airy, safe and comfortable learning space for students, contributing to their comprehensive development in knowledge, health, ethics and lifestyle. This is a premise to help them become citizens with all the necessary qualities and skills to contribute to building a rich and beautiful homeland and country,” said Mr. Doan Van Tuan - Director of Planning and Management Information Department and Secretary of the Youth Union of Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank at the inauguration ceremony.
The new school helps students in Bua Coc hamlet study more conveniently.
Bui Thi Bich Phuong is a student at Suoi Nanh Primary and Secondary School. Every day, she has to wake up at 5am to prepare to go to school at the main school, which is more than 7km away from her home on a mountain road. Therefore, Phuong is very happy when the new school was inaugurated right in her hamlet. “Every day, my mother has to drive me 7km to school. In the cold winter, going to school is very difficult. If it rains or there is a landslide, we have to miss school. With the new school, I will no longer have to miss school,” Bui Thi Bich Phuong shared.
Bua Coc school is the third school jointly implemented by the Vietnam Stature Fund (VSF) and the Youth Union of Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank. Previously, the two units had cooperated to build two kindergarten/primary schools at Tham Hang school (Muong Long commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An) and Ban Chang school (Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province).
The way to school will now be closer for students and parents.
Also at the inauguration ceremony, the Vietnam Stature Fund and the Youth Union of North Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank presented gifts of 600 cups of TH True MILK milk, backpacks, pens and notebooks to the children on the occasion of the inauguration of the new school.
