The live hog market fluctuated unpredictably last week. Many experts predict that this trend will continue into next week. According to a survey, the national live hog price is currently fluctuating between 60,000 and 64,000 VND/kg.

*Pig price in the North:

Last week, the northern pig market moved sideways at the beginning of the week and turned down in many localities in the middle of the week.

Accordingly, currently only Hanoi and Phu Tho are still trading at 64,000 VND/kg, the highest in the country. In contrast, Ninh Binh and Lao Cai provinces are trading at 62,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the region. The remaining localities buy and sell live pigs at 63,000 VND/kg.

*Pig price in the Central Highlands region

The Central Highlands region also saw a slight price decrease in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa, to 62,000 VND/kg, the same price as Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Lam Dong.

Currently, this area is buying and selling at a difference of about 60,000 - 62,000 VND/kg.

*Pig price in the Southern region

The South is the region that has seen the most fluctuations in the past week. Currently, Southern traders are purchasing live pigs at 60,000 - 63,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, the price of live pigs in this region decreased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg in An Giang, Kien Giang and Binh Duong provinces. On the contrary, the prices of Ben Tre, Soc Trang , Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Long An and Ca Mau provinces increased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg.

*According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, pork plays a very important role in stabilizing food prices, therefore, it is necessary to ensure that pork supply increases by 10-15% before, during and after the upcoming Lunar New Year, to avoid disease outbreaks and price fluctuations.

The Resolution of the regular Government meeting in October stated that the Government requires ministries, agencies and localities, according to their assigned functions, tasks and authorities, to grasp the market situation, assess the supply and demand of goods, especially electricity, gasoline, food, foodstuffs and other essential goods to regulate production, manage the market, ensure supply and demand balance, stabilize the market and prices, and prevent shortages and disruptions in goods sources that cause sudden price increases in the last months of the year and the Lunar New Year 2025.
