The enterprise with the largest number of employees in Vietnam spends 1,500 billion VND on Tet bonuses

Pou Chen Group spent about VND1,500 billion in Tet bonuses for more than 94,000 workers at 8 factories, with an average of VND16 million per person.

Information on the 2024 Lunar New Year bonus was announced by Pou Chen International Group (Taiwan) on the afternoon of January 6. Factories belonging to this enterprise include: Pouyuen in Ho Chi Minh City; Pouchen, Pousung, Pouphong in Dong Nai; Du Duc in Tien Giang ; Pouhung, Pouli in Tay Ninh and Prime Asia in Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

Accordingly, workers who work a full year will receive a bonus of one month's salary, and then the rate increases gradually according to seniority. Workers who have worked for 12 years or more will receive 1.98 months' salary, while last year this rate was 2.2 months. If converted into money, workers will receive a bonus 10% lower than last year. This is the second time in the past 5 years that Pou Chen has reduced their Tet bonus. The first time was during the 2022 Tet holiday when Covid-19 broke out, workers received a bonus equal to 70% of the previous year.

Pou Chen has not yet announced the lowest and highest bonus amounts that employees receive in the entire group. However, at the company with the most workers, Pouyuen in Ho Chi Minh City, the highest bonus is about 67 million VND and the lowest is more than 5 million VND; the average is about 17 million VND. This year, Pouyuen will spend about 633 billion VND on bonuses for more than 38,000 employees.

According to the group's leaders, in 2023, the global economy will continue to decline, market consumption will decrease sharply, greatly affecting the company's production and business activities. However, the company tries to ensure care for its employees. For many years, the company has maintained approximately 1,500 billion VND in Tet bonuses for workers.

Pou Chen, from Taiwan, is one of the world's largest footwear manufacturers and processors for brands such as Nike, Puma, Adidas, etc. The group invested in Vietnam in 1994 and has been the largest manufacturing enterprise in the country for many years, with 130,000 workers at one point. However, due to the impact of Covid-19 and a decline in orders, the group has repeatedly reduced its workforce.
