Enterprises sponsor nearly 12 billion VND for a vocational college

At the conference to deploy tasks for the 2025-2026 school year held on October 18, Thu Duc College of Technology received nearly 12 billion VND in sponsorship from 59 domestic and foreign enterprises and organizations.

This is not only a resource to help schools invest in equipment and improve training quality, but also demonstrates the trend of close connection between schools - businesses - international organizations in vocational education .

Join hands to support vocational training

At the conference, Thu Duc College of Technology received sponsorship from 59 businesses and individuals with a total value of nearly 12 billion VND, including scholarships, practice equipment, facilities and training cooperation programs. Notably, two international cooperation projects with a total value of nearly 8 billion VND sponsored by the European Institute for Cooperation and Development (IECD) and the NGO ASSIST.

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, Mr. Aru David, Regional Director of the Mekong region of the NGO ASSIST, said the main objective of the project is to support equipment for practical training and capacity building for lecturers and students. According to him, the project will implement 3 main contents:

  • Establish a practical training center with technical support from businesses;
  • Organize training courses for lecturers to update new technology and teaching methods;
  • Expanding opportunities for students to learn while doing, access modern technology and increase their employability after graduation.

“We want Vietnamese students to study in a more practical environment and gain more practical skills to be ready to enter the international labor market. This is the greatest value that the project aims for,” Mr. Aru David emphasized.

Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Ms. Aurélie Glenisson, Director of IECD's Seeds of Hope project, said that the organization has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Thu Duc College of Technology for the period 2025 - 2028. The project focuses on the restaurant - hotel sector, aiming to improve vocational skills for students, while supporting learners in difficult circumstances.

“We are currently implementing two projects in Ho Chi Minh City and are always ready to expand cooperation, not only with Thu Duc College of Technology but also with other universities, colleges and organizations across Vietnam. Cooperation activities are not only limited to the restaurant and hotel sector, but also extend to other industries, such as automotive or electrical engineering training,” Ms. Aurélie shared.

Win-win cooperation

At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Huu Loc, Principal of the school, said that the cooperation model with businesses is a pillar in the school's development strategy. "Each sponsorship is used for the committed purpose. Scholarships are awarded to the right subjects, equipment is allocated to the right majors. More importantly, the relationship between the school and businesses must be mutually beneficial," said Dr. Loc.

According to Dr. Loc, businesses support the school with facilities, equipment and new technology, while the school meets the needs of high-quality human resources for businesses, providing businesses with a team of skilled, highly skilled graduates. “Thanks to this cooperation, the school's students can go to work immediately after graduation, reducing retraining costs for businesses,” Dr. Loc emphasized.

According to Associate Professor - Dr. Pham Huu Loc, cooperation between schools and businesses is based on the principle of mutual benefit.

The signing with domestic and foreign enterprises and organizations focuses on funding equipment and facilities; technology transfer; creating conditions for students to access professional practices; coordinating the organization of tours and internships for lecturers and students; in assessing and building training programs, cooperating in scientific research and technology transfer...

In addition, the school also signed cooperation agreements with many universities in joint training, work-study, distance learning, postgraduate training, admissions consulting, scientific research, etc.

According to Dr. Pham Huu Loc, one of the strategic acceleration programs and tasks to strive to implement in 2025-2026 is to strengthen business cooperation and international integration: Continue parallel training programs, dual training with businesses; Expand and develop training cooperation activities with advanced colleges and universities in the region and the world; Proactively integrate and improve the effectiveness of international cooperation in vocational education.

Appreciating the above efforts, Professor Le Quan, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, said that the cooperation between schools and businesses is a bright spot in vocational education. “The innovation of training programs linked to businesses brings a lot of value. Schools have proactively connected with businesses in training, but need to go deeper into substantive cooperation, especially in program innovation and training effectiveness assessment,” Professor Quan noted.

Mr. Aru David believes that international cooperation is an extremely important factor, because through it, we can share a lot of professional experiences from foreign partners, help improve the capacity of the teaching staff, the school, and thereby better support students. He believes that there should be more international cooperation programs at colleges in Vietnam.

Within the framework of the conference, Associate Professor - Dr. Pham Huu Loc was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the cause of education and training.
