Believe in young faces
The 2025 National Table Tennis Tournament for Strong Teams took place from September 21 to 28 in Phu Tho province, gathering nearly 130 excellent athletes from 12 strong teams nationwide, including: People's Public Security (CAND) - T&T, Hai Phong, Hanoi , Army, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, Vinh Long, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Lam Dong, Da Nang and Hung Yen. The CAND - T&T team stood out with 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals, thereby winning the overall championship.
Notably, Dinh Anh Hoang continued to prove his position as the number 1 male table tennis player in Vietnam. With a “golden hat-trick” in men’s doubles, mixed doubles and men’s team, he not only brought glory to the CAND – T&T team but also showed the rare stability of a player entering his prime. Previously, at the National Championship, Anh Hoang had surpassed his senior Nguyen Anh Tu to win the gold medal in men’s singles – a milestone affirming his position as a leader of the new generation.

In the women's category, young player Tran Mai Ngoc has clearly shown her maturity. She coordinated well with Anh Hoang to bring home the gold medal in the mixed doubles, and also reached the final of the women's singles before losing to veteran Mai Hoang My Trang. Experts believe that Mai Ngoc has the potential to become a pillar of the women's team, bringing confidence in the ability to compete for regional medals.
Another factor is Le Dinh Duc – a player considered as the silent “beat keeper”. His contributions in the team and men’s doubles events show his steadfast and steady role – an essential factor in maintaining tactical stability for the whole team.
Coach Vu Manh Cuong commented: "The gap with regional powers like Singapore or Thailand is still there, but if they maintain professionalism in training, combined with a persistent competitive spirit, young players can absolutely create surprises at the 33rd SEA Games."

Towards SEA Games 33 and beyond
Coach Vu Manh Cuong shared that the Club received a large investment from the T&T Group of businessman Do Quang Hien. From salary, benefits to hot bonuses, all create strong motivation for athletes to focus all their efforts on their expertise. In addition, the strict management and support from the police force helps athletes have conditions to practice, live scientifically , have opportunities to compete internationally and have a guaranteed life. This is the factor that helps athletes feel secure to practice wholeheartedly, instead of being influenced by daily worries, competing with all their might.
The combination of good support and professional training is the foundation for the explosion of the CAND-T&T table tennis club in the domestic arena. This simultaneously creates an important resource for Vietnamese table tennis towards the SEA Games and other international tournaments. Along with that, the discipline of the People's Public Security force is strictly applied in each training session and each match. This "two-in-one" combination creates an ideal environment: both forging a steadfast will and nurturing talent with long-term investment resources. This is a model for developing high-performance sports in a professional direction that many other sports can refer to.

With the current force, Vietnamese table tennis possesses the most balanced and powerful team in many years. The CAND – T&T framework (Anh Hoang, Mai Ngoc, Dinh Duc) combined with players from Ho Chi Minh City, the Army, and Hai Phong will create a combined strength. The team and doubles events – which are traditional strengths – are expected to bring home valuable medals.
The challenge remains as regional rivals are superior in terms of international experience and youth training foundation. However, Vietnamese table tennis has three important “keys” in hand: systematic investment, professional discipline and a generation of ambitious young athletes. This is the basis for us to enter the 33rd SEA Games with confidence.
More than just a story of achievement, CAND – T&T table tennis is proving that the path to developing high-performance sports in Vietnam must be based on a professional foundation. SEA Games 33 will be a test, and also an opportunity for Vietnamese table tennis to affirm that we are capable of making a mark in the region, moving towards realizing the aspiration of reaching the continental level.
