However, according to MBS, credit at the end of the third quarter of the listed banking group is expected to increase by about 14.8% compared to the beginning of the year, equivalent to an increase of 4.6% compared to the second quarter.
MBS's expert team also commented that retail credit will catch up with the growth rate of corporate credit in the second half of 2025 thanks to the recovery of home loans and consumer loans. In addition, credit growth of private banks is forecast to reach 18%, and of state-owned banks at 12%.
After-tax profits of listed commercial banks are also forecast to increase quite highly, with an increase of 21.5% over the same period in 2024, better than the 18.7% in the second quarter.

Accumulated in the first 9 months of 2025, after-tax profit of listed banks is expected to increase by 15.6% compared to the same period in 2024. This is also a group with a fairly high credit growth rate.
Asset quality of the entire banking industry is expected to improve slightly compared to the end of the second quarter, with bad debt expected to fall below 2% and the bad debt coverage ratio kept around 80%.
