Dong Thap: Groundbreaking ceremony for Tra Tan saltwater intrusion prevention sluice and 26-3 sluice

On October 20, in Long Tien commune, Dong Thap province, the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development of Dong Thap province organized a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction package of Tra Tan sluice and 26-3 sluice under the Investment Project for Construction of a saline prevention sluice system at the heads of canals and ditches leading to Tien River on Provincial Road 864 (phase 1).

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dieu, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, requested the construction units to ensure progress, safety in construction, quality, efficiency and aesthetics. At the same time, he hoped that people affected by the project would support and create favorable conditions for the project to be implemented on schedule and effectively...

The Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee requested the investor and contractors to shorten the construction time by about 3 months, completing it by October 20, 2026 at the latest. If completed earlier, Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee will reward them.

The construction package of Tra Tan culvert and 26-3 culvert is invested by the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development of Dong Thap Province. The project has a winning bid value of over 131.2 billion VND, construction time is 420 days.

Tra Tan culvert is designed as an open-air culvert made of M300 reinforced concrete, including a culvert compartment 26m wide, threshold elevation - 5.5m; working bridge; connecting road; electrical system; Scada system. Culvert 26-3 is designed as a reinforced concrete box culvert, 2.5m span, 22m long; road above the culvert; electrical system.

After the completion of Tra Tan sluice and 26-3 sluice, together with 6 invested sluices and Nguyen Tan Thanh sluice, a closed sluice system to prevent salinity, store fresh water, prevent high tides will be created, adapting to climate change, effectively protecting production and serving people's lives.
