Da Nang tourism breaks through after merger, aiming for regional vision

On the afternoon of October 17, at the Ariyana International Convention Palace in Da Nang, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the city held a workshop with the theme "Orientation for Da Nang tourism development in the new period."

The program is within the framework of Da Nang International Tourism Festival 2025, attracting the participation of many domestic and international delegates and tourism experts.

Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang city said that this is an appropriate opportunity for the city to listen to opinions and proposals from delegates and tourism experts; propose plans to implement adjustments to the planning and orientation of tourism development in the city, effectively exploiting resources associated with traditional values, history and indigenous culture rich in identity of the land of Quang.

The workshop contributes to building Da Nang into an attractive tourist destination in the world, developing the economy sustainably, and creating jobs for businesses and local people.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Da Nang has affirmed its brand on the international tourism map; recovered quickly after COVID-19 and is on the path of strong development.

After merging with the old Quang Nam province, Da Nang expanded its space 10 times, becoming the largest centrally-run city in the country, possessing high competitive values, opening up a large development space for the tourism industry in particular in the area.

In the first 9 months of 2025, the total number of guests served by accommodation establishments is estimated at about 14.4 million, with international visitors reaching over 5.8 million. Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel services is estimated at nearly 41,000 billion VND.

This is a positive signal showing the strong growth of the city's tourism after the merger, and at the same time showing the increasing attractiveness of Da Nang to the domestic and international markets.

Da Nang identifies the tourism industry as the city's spearhead sector and main growth driver. By 2030, Da Nang will strive to become a high-quality tourism and service center, a green and creative destination in Southeast Asia, a leading destination for heritage tourism and become a leading tourist destination in Asia, a center for high-class, green, smart, ecological sea resorts, and an international event organizer by 2050.

To realize the set goals, delegates and tourism experts have proposed many ideas and goals for the Da Nang tourism industry to "take off" in the coming time.

Mr. Le Quoc Viet - representative of Quang Nam Destination Club said that currently, Da Nang has great potential to develop tourism in the direction of City-Village-Rooftop.

The city has a long coastline, developed urban areas, and two heritages, traditional crafts, folk arts and unique culture of ethnic minorities in mountainous areas.

Developing in this direction will help Da Nang tourism industry stabilize the traditional middle and high-end customer market; optimize sales and profits; develop greenly and sustainably and support livelihoods for remote areas, contributing to preserving indigenous values.

Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said that in order to develop and improve the quality of tourism products, Da Nang needs to focus on developing highly competitive, distinctive and culturally valuable tourism products; developing a sustainable tourism model, rationally exploiting natural resources, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, and protecting the environment.

The city should study appropriate policies to attract investment and manage destinations; build a Da Nang tourism brand associated with core values ​​and strengthen tourism promotion on modern media; at the same time, have specific solutions after implementing administrative boundary mergers, creating a premise for Da Nang to restructure and accelerate, break through the spearhead tourism industry, actively contributing to the double-digit growth target in 2025 and the coming period./.
