Vietnam tourism falls in ranking, ranks 5th in Southeast Asia

Vietnam's total score in the ranking is 3.96 out of 7, down 0.14% compared to the total score of 4.1 in 2021.

In the Southeast Asia region, Singapore has the highest index, ranked 13th, followed by Indonesia (up 14 places, from 36 to 22), Malaysia (35), Thailand (47). Vietnam's index is above the Philippines (69), Cambodia (86) and Laos (91).

Vietnam is less competitive as a destination than other countries in the region.

Vietnam tourism falls in Southeast Asia ranking

Meanwhile, the lowest index of Vietnam's tourism industry this year is service infrastructure with 2.2 points, ranked 80th, and socio -economic impact brought by the tourism industry with only 2.95 points, ranked 115th, second to last in the ranking.

The Tourism Development Index is published by WEF every two years, based on 5 main groups including operating environment, policies and support conditions, infrastructure, tourism demand drivers, and tourism sustainability. The above 5 indexes are divided into 17 areas for scoring such as security, safety; health and hygiene; open policy; tourism infrastructure, transportation... The 2024 ranking was conducted by WEF with 119 countries and territories.
