Policies and methods to make Vietnamese costumes known and proud are the contents mentioned in the talk show 'Finding Vietnamese national costumes', within the framework of the 2024 Green Hair and Ao Dai Gala.

On the evening of March 24, the Green Hair and Ao Dai Gala night within the framework of the 2024 Song Doi Cultural Week took place at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

The highlight of the gala night was the talk show "In search of Vietnamese national costumes" with the participation of guests sharing stories revolving around the story of preserving, maintaining and promoting Vietnamese costumes, and the love for Vietnamese culture.

Mr. Hoang Quan, producer of the film Tet in Hell Village - brought Vietnamese costumes into the horror film combined with ancient costumes out of national pride.

Hoang Quan shared: "I read the audience's opinion that Vietnam cannot make historical films due to lack of budget and materials. I don't believe this, we can do it."

So Hoang Quan decided to make a Tet film in the hell village.

Arrive When he started working on it, he realized why other producers were always wary of historical films because there were many opinions on putting Vietnamese costumes in films, which could easily cause controversy.

Hoang Quan said he continues to use folk materials, including Vietnamese costumes, in his new project Con Cam .

Specifically, he used ancient costumes from the Nguyen Dynasty to develop the fairy tale Tam Cam from the perspective of the horror film genre.

"This costume project is very elaborate because there are sets related to royal costumes (the costume of Tam entering the palace, the costumes of the king, mandarins, and soldiers). The designs are also more complicated" - Hoang Quan told Tuoi Tre Online .

The film is being filmed in Hue and is expected to be released later this year.

Awakening national consciousness through Vietnamese costume

Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh - head of the Vietnamese Village Communal House Club - commented that young people today always try to protect the cultural heritage of their ancestors.

He hopes to have support from the authorities, so that more young people can access the traditional culture of the nation.

From the perspective of the management agency, Mr. Phan Thanh Hai - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Thua Thien Hue, Vice President of the Vietnam Archaeological Association - said that in recent times, Hue has always created all conditions for film crews to film, and issued policies for the development of cinema in the ancient capital.

He said Hue always respects and honors culture, considering culture as an internal resource for development.

"I am very happy that the young generation is truly interested in the national cultural tradition, researching, exploring, wearing costumes with pride and happiness that is truly precious. I think this is the awakening of national consciousness, awareness of traditional culture" - Mr. Phan Thanh Hai shared.

He commented that current policies are still inadequate and have not reached young people, making it easier for young people to carry out projects to promote Vietnamese costumes.

Within the framework of the Gala Green Hair and Ao Dai , the audience got to see nearly 20 Vietnamese costumes from Quang Hoa, Lien Hoa, Chieu Minh Cac, Hoa nien - Beautiful Years.
