Elon Musk announces search for successor CEO at Twitter

Accordingly, Musk will move to the position of chief technology officer (CTO) in the next few weeks.

“Excited to announce that I have hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will start in approximately 6 weeks,” the Twitter boss posted on social media.

Elon Musk announced on Twitter that he has found a new CEO for the social network.

In a poll on the platform last December, 57.5% of users voted that Musk should step down as CEO of the social network.

“Bluebird” has undergone major changes just two weeks after being owned by the Tesla and SpaceX CEO in October. The previous leadership, including CEO Parag Agrawal, and half of the staff were fired by the American billionaire.

Musk has never named any potential candidates and it is not clear who the billionaire has appointed as his successor to run “Blue Bird”, but there has been some “speculation” in the technology and media world.

Linda Yaccarino, the top advertising sales executive at Comcast’s NBCUniversal, could be a candidate. Yaccarino is a Silicon Valley executive and former Hollywood executive. Last month, the sales executive interviewed Musk at an event in Miami.

Former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is also a name that has been suggested in conversations among Twitter employees. Other names include former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, Shivon Zilis - CEO of Elon Musk's startup Neuralink, SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell or Tesla president Robyn Denholm.

For his part, as CTO, Musk will oversee the company's products, software, and systems.

Tesla shares rose more than 2.1% in trading on May 11, reflecting easing investor concerns about Musk spending too much time on Twitter.
