Ha Tinh: 100% of medical facilities operate electronic medical records

DNVN - The Ha Tinh Health Sector has just officially marked an important milestone in the digital transformation roadmap when all 23/23 hospitals and medical centers in the area have completed the deployment and put into operation electronic medical records.

This is considered a major turning point, contributing to improving the quality of management, medical examination and treatment and health care for the people.

Implementing the direction of the Government, the Ministry of Health and the Provincial People's Committee, from June 2025, the Ha Tinh Department of Health issued a plan to deploy electronic medical records for all medical examination and treatment facilities in the province. On that basis, the units quickly started to build and complete the process in accordance with regulations. On August 2, Hong Linh Medical Center became the first unit to be assessed and announced for implementation, with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Health and many provincial departments and branches.

Speaking to Ha Tinh newspaper, Dr. Nguyen Hoa - Deputy Director of Hong Linh Medical Center said that the unit has proactively sent staff to learn from previous facilities, and coordinated with VNPT to complete technology infrastructure, upgrade transmission lines, equip all doctors and nurses with digital signatures, install smart kiosks and organize training for the team.

The center has also synchronously integrated four core software: HIS, LIS, PACS and EMR, creating a closed process from reception, information management, medical history to testing, imaging diagnosis, all operating in an electronic environment.

At the Provincial General Hospital - a leading facility with a large number of patients and data, the implementation of electronic medical records has even more stringent requirements. Doctor Le Ngoc Thanh - Deputy Director of the hospital - said that since September 2024, the hospital has established a committee to develop electronic medical records and gradually prepared the necessary conditions.

By April 2025, with specific instructions from the Government and the Ministry of Health, the hospital urgently developed a detailed plan, organized visits to many pioneering models, and invested in upgrading IT infrastructure, security systems and training procedures for all doctors and medical staff. Thanks to that, on September 12, the Electronic Medical Records Appraisal Council of the Department of Health and related departments and branches officially approved and allowed the hospital to operate the new system.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung - Deputy Head of the Medical Affairs Department, Ha Tinh Department of Health affirmed that the implementation of electronic medical records has been strongly directed by the industry. Despite many difficulties in terms of resources and professional work pressure, medical facilities still strive to overcome them, arrange human resources to work day and night, even mobilize personal computers to keep up with the progress.

Close coordination with information technology units has helped build an effective and synchronous operating process across the province. By September 26, all 23/23 medical facilities with beds (including 20 public and 3 non-public) had completed the implementation of electronic medical records.

The comprehensive use of electronic medical records not only affirms the strong digital transformation efforts of the Ha Tinh Health sector but also opens a new turning point in medical examination and treatment management, improving the effectiveness of health care for the people, towards building a modern, smart and sustainable health system.
