Electricity consumption on June 2, 2025 reached 5,558 MW, the highest level in history.
The intense heat in the summer has increased the demand for electricity. EVNHANOI estimates that the demand for electricity in the coming time will continue to grow at a rate of 8% - 12%/year. According to statistics in the first 5 months of 2025, the average daily electricity output of Hanoi City is over 67 million kWh, an increase of 2% over the same period in 2024.
In particular, the peak capacity (Pmax) set at 9:40 p.m. on June 2, 2025 is 5,558 MW, the highest in history and an increase of 5.6% compared to the peak capacity in 2024.
In the first 5 months of the year, EVNHANOI started construction of 05 110/220 kV projects and energized 05 110 kV projects. For the medium and low voltage grid, EVNHANOI energized 116 projects with a total main equipment capacity put into operation of 95 MBA/39.4 MVA; 187.3 km of medium voltage lines and 631.1 km of low voltage conductors.
EVNHANOI strengthens inspection of equipment operating status
According to Mr. Tran Thanh Sang, Head of Electricity Management Team 2, Ba Dinh Electricity Company, shared: "To ensure a stable, safe and continuous power supply in the summer, especially during peak hours of electricity consumption, we regularly check current measurement, thermal imaging, and connection points on the grid... If we detect risks of causing incidents such as overheating, the group of workers will have to handle them immediately to avoid prolonged incidents. During peak hot days, work can last until 2-3 am due to having to continuously handle contact and balance phase reversal at many locations to ensure safe, continuous and stable power supply to serve customers in the area".
EVNHANOI arranges on-duty forces to urgently handle contact and phase reversal balance.
To meet the high demand for electricity during the peak summer season, EVNHANOI requires power companies to review, update, and analyze load data by region and load characteristics, thereby forecasting loads close to reality, developing scenarios and appropriate power supply solutions at the unit; at the same time, focus on reviewing and strengthening grid operation management, calculating optimal operating methods.
In particular, during the peak hot days, EVNHANOI has directed units to strengthen and arrange on-duty forces; regularly review the load situation; continuously check and patrol to prevent incidents due to violations of the route corridor; and prepare materials, equipment and means to promptly handle any situations that arise.
In addition to the efforts of the electricity industry, to join hands to contribute to ensuring electricity supply in the hot summer of 2025, EVNHANOI recommends that customers use electricity economically and effectively, turn off unnecessary electrical equipment, limit the use of equipment during peak electricity consumption hours: from 12:00 ÷ 15:00 and from 22:00 ÷ 24:00 every day. At the same time, pay attention to the reasonable use of air conditioning (set at 26 °C or higher, use in combination with fans) and should not use many high-capacity electrical equipment at the same time...
