Less than a day after the noisy defeat in the group stage of the Women's U21 Volleyball World Championship, coach Nguyen Trong Linh's students still maintained their impressive form, defeating Egypt with a score of 3-1.
The qualifying round for eliminated teams usually receives little attention, but the presence of U21 Vietnam in the eye of the storm has caught the attention of the world volleyball community.
Many volleyball fans, mostly from Thailand, praised U21 Vietnam after their victory over Egypt.
An account named Mongkorndee commented on the link to watch the match live on YouTube: "Vietnam had a beautiful victory. Let's accept the fact that they are a strong team. Southeast Asia can develop together."
On the Volleytrails forum, a fan named Jeminah Lumbre commented: "Let's admit that with or without controversial athletes, Vietnam is still a very excellent team."
Wanfenkanta, another Thai fan, also praised on YouTube: "The Vietnamese volleyball girls actually don't need to cheat. Their skills are quite good, maybe even better than the U21 Thailand team.
In terms of training, the Vietnamese team is far superior. We can see how they control the game and adjust the tempo of the game, gaining an advantage over their opponents."
Another fan named Dornsat commented in the Volleyball World group: "I thought that U21 Vietnam would collapse after the loss and losing a key player. But they still showed their sportsmanship ."
Although many fans criticized Vietnam a lot for the suspicion of "using illegal players", they also praised coach Nguyen Trong Linh and his team for standing firm after the shock.
