Let ducks listen to dance music, earn billions
Mr. Le Xuan Nam (47 years old, Tu Lan ward, Viet Yen, Bac Giang province) owns a large duck farm. The special feature of this farm is that duck farming is combined with music.
According to Mr. Nam's sharing on Tuoi Tre Newspaper, the idea of letting ducks listen to music came about in 2000, when he was still raising pigs.
Back then, because he raised pigs near his house, he often turned on the radio to relieve boredom, sometimes forgetting to turn it off. Gradually, he noticed that the pigs were not jostled or run around, and their meat was tastier than other pigs.
After that, Mr. Nam also tried playing music to the chickens. Normally, chickens fly away when they see people. But when they listen to music, they become tame.
In 2020, he switched to raising ducks because of the great potential. "From the time the ducks are caught until they are sold, they listen to all kinds of music from cheo, cai luong, quan ho to nhac dan, only reducing the volume in the evening. All the ducks are healthy and eat well," said Mr. Nam.
Mr. Nam often changes the music in the duck pens to change the atmosphere but does not turn it off until the ducks are ready to be sold.
Up to now, Mr. Nam has a farm of thousands of square meters, selling more than 30,000 ducks/batch. Each year, he sells about 3-5 batches, which is 500-600 tons of ducks/year. Thanks to the good quality, there is a unit that has contracted to purchase and purchase his music ducks at high prices, mainly to restaurants and night eateries. The average price of duck is about 40,000 VND/kg, at peak times it is up to 56,000-58,000 VND/kg, at low times it is about 33,000 VND/kg. Thanks to that, Mr. Nam earns billions of VND per batch.
In 2023, Mr. Nam's model of raising ducks listening to music received an encouragement prize at the 10th Bac Giang province technical innovation contest, and many people in the province came to learn from his method.
Let the chickens "go to bars", the pigs leisurely listen to music
The chicken and pig farm of Ms. Luong Thi Toan's family, Huy Toan Company Ltd. in Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province, always resounds with romantic love songs.
Ms. Toan shared on VOV, the idea came from the chicken coop being very closed and quiet, when workers came in to feed, take eggs or clean the coop, the chickens panicked and ran all over the coop, some clipped their wings, some clipped their heads, eggs broke... so she came up with the idea of letting the chickens listen to music every day to gradually get used to the noise and not panic.
The chickens are not stressed so they are healthier, eat better, and lay eggs for longer. 15,000 chickens produce 12,000-13,000 eggs per day, so profits are higher. The quality of the eggs is also more delicious, so they sell for a higher price. Her family earns more than 10 million VND per day from eggs alone.
Also on Toan's farm is a farm with several thousand pigs for meat and sows. Each pig is fat, has smooth fur, rosy skin, and lies comfortably listening to music. Music makes them happy and comfortable, so they eat more, the sows are fertile, and the pigs for meat gain weight quickly, with firm meat. Each month, her farm sells about 1,000 pigs, earning 5 billion VND.
Raising chickens to listen to music, making big profits
Dan Viet Newspaper reported that in 2010, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan's family (living in Quarter 2, Chau Thanh Town, Chau Thanh District, Tay Ninh Province) switched to raising Tam Hoang broiler chickens, but after 3 years of care, due to lack of experience, productivity was not high, and even suffered losses due to chickens getting sick.
Through research and study, Mr. Tuan invested in raising organic, bio-safe chickens, with the Dabaco breed.
By 2022, his family will maintain and expand the flock of 2,000 chickens, building a farm on an area of nearly 2,000 square meters in a cool, airy area, far from residential areas.
In particular, when visiting Mr. Tuan’s chicken farm, many people are surprised by the melodious music coming from the chicken coop. This is one of the reasons that helps the chickens grow quickly and not be afraid of noise.
Mr. Tuan shared that to tame the chickens, his family used an additional method of letting the chickens listen to music, and he played the music 24/7. To help the chickens adapt, he had to choose light music such as chamber music, lyrical music...
And the melodious music coming from the chicken coop keeps the chickens from panicking when people come in to feed or clean them, especially when the weather is too hot or rainy, stormy, or thundering. The chickens do not jostle or bite each other, reducing the loss rate by 5-7%.
Every year, Mr. Tuan raises two batches of chickens. After deducting all expenses, he earns more than 60 million VND/batch. Every year, he earns more than 100 million VND.
Let the ducks lie in the air conditioner
Raising ducks using many high technologies, Mr. Thai Hoa Nam (42 years old, in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province) has the largest duck farm in Quang Binh province with a revenue of billions of dong each year.
According to Thanh Nien Newspaper, before becoming a duck farmer, Mr. Nam worked for Viettel Group and was sent to work abroad. During this time, he had the opportunity to access high-tech agriculture in developed countries, from which he nurtured his dream of realizing it in Vietnam.
In 2018, Mr. Nam returned to his hometown and together with some people established a livestock company. He coordinated with people in the company to create and design barns, install modern and suitable equipment to apply high technology to closed-loop duck farming.
But the closed farming model does not give ducks as much space to live and move as in traditional farming. Therefore, Mr. Nam has researched and studied to create the best living environment for ducks.
"Our farm has invested in a system that provides food, water, and automatic air conditioning. The amount of food and water will be automatically adjusted, and the temperature will be adjusted according to the number and growth time of the ducks. In addition, there are methods for the ducks to relax by listening to music, and to increase the movement of the flock with a fan system," Mr. Nam shared.
It sounds unbelievable, but according to Mr. Nam, this way of raising ducks affects the growth process, and the product will be better.
