In the marine and island environment, the unit is often affected by wind, salt vapor, high tides, especially at the end of the year when the sea level often rises and floods the barracks. In addition, the scarcity of fresh water has made it difficult to increase production. To cope with the above situation, Radar Station 44 has planned a closed production and livestock area with a surrounding wall higher than 1 meter. During collective activities, production tasks are given for officers and soldiers to contribute ideas, build models and agree on implementation. Therefore, over the years, the Station's production and livestock work has always achieved good results.

The officers and soldiers at Radar Station 44 always actively participate in raising and raising livestock after training and studying hours. Corporal Ninh Tri Hung, Radar Operator, Radar Platoon, Radar Station 44 shared: "Every day, after training and station duty, I and my teammates raise and take care of pigs and chickens. We have used foam boxes, old corrugated iron, and wood to make areas for growing onions, ginger, eggplant, etc. The soil is also improved to be loose and porous, helping green vegetables and herbs grow well like on the mainland."

Soldiers actively take care of vegetables.

Captain Tran Van Ba, Head of Radar Station 44 said: “With the attention of the Party Committee, the commander of Regiment 292 and the efforts of the officers and soldiers, the Station has built a closed, covered garden with a net roof with an area of over 300 square meters . The officers and soldiers actively improve the soil, make organic fertilizer from existing plants on the island such as sea spinach and weeds to grow and care for vegetables. In addition, the Station commander always encourages soldiers to make full use of empty spaces and vacant land to grow a variety of vegetables.”

Up to now, the concentrated production area of Radar Station 44 regularly maintains 5-6 types of vegetables, 3-4 types of tubers and fruits. Regardless of harsh weather conditions, under the care and cultivation of soldiers, the vegetable beds still grow green and lush. In addition, the Station regularly maintains about 5 pigs and more than 60 poultry. Thanks to the implementation of appropriate production and livestock raising, combined with proactive research, exploration, and diversification of livestock and crops, the Station's production work has made great strides. In the first 8 months of 2025, the Station harvested more than 1 ton of green vegetables and nearly 500kg of meat.

Besides ensuring better lives for soldiers, the Station's vegetable garden is a place for units on the island to learn from experience, becoming a model location for the whole island to serve inspection and visiting delegations.
