Nearly 500 billion VND to build Rach Tom bridge in Hiep Phuoc commune, Ho Chi Minh City

On the morning of July 10, the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works of Ho Chi Minh City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Rach Tom Bridge in Hiep Phuoc Commune, Ho Chi Minh City. The project has a total investment of 497 billion VND, is a key project contributing to the completion of traffic infrastructure in the South of the city and strengthening inter-regional connectivity.

Nearly 500 billion VND to build Rach Tom bridge in Hiep Phuoc commune, Ho Chi Minh City

The Rach Tom Bridge Project is a new construction to replace the old, degraded iron bridge, to ensure traffic safety, reduce congestion and promote local socio -economic development. The bridge is approximately 684m long, including a 174m main bridge and a 510m approach road; 15m cross-section with 4 lanes. The project also includes a lighting system, trees and synchronous technical infrastructure.

According to Mr. Trinh Linh Phuong, Deputy Director of the Project Management Board, the total investment of 497 billion VND includes 141 billion VND for construction costs, the rest for compensation, site clearance (GPMB) and related costs.

Up to now, 83/111 households subject to land acquisition have agreed to receive compensation, with a total cost of more than 226 billion VND. The Compensation Board of Nha Be District and the People's Committee of Hiep Phuoc Commune are urgently completing the site handover, expected to be completed before September 30, 2025.

The project is expected to be completed and put into operation on December 31, 2026, contributing to replacing all four weak bridges on Le Van Luong route, forming a strategic traffic axis in the South of the city. Along with the completed Long Kieng and Rach Dia bridges, Rach Tom bridge is part of the strategy to develop a sustainable transport system in Ho Chi Minh City.

Immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony, the construction units began to implement the work, closely coordinating with the authorities to ensure progress. The representative of the Project Management Board acknowledged and appreciated the support of the city leaders, departments, localities and people of Hiep Phuoc commune who accompanied, shared and contributed to the construction of this important project.
