Spending the weekend shopping for Black Friday, Mr. Thanh Son (residing on Cong Hoa Street, Tan Binh District) said he went to Aeon Tan Phu shopping center to hunt for discounted items.

A major world T-shirt brand is offering a 40-50% discount. Normally, these T-shirts cost nearly 3 million VND, but now they are only 1.6-1.8 million VND/shirt.

As a fan of this brand, Mr. Son was very excited about the deeply discounted products. However, the discounted products were mainly large or very small sizes. In addition, the colors that were not suitable for everyone were also heavily discounted, such as yellow, red, orange, etc.

“At first, I decided to buy a lot of pants and shirts to wear, but after rummaging through the pile of discounted items, I couldn't find anything, so I had to go home alone,” said Mr. Son.

Like Mr. Son, Ms. Thanh Hang (living on Phan Dinh Phung Street, Phu Nhuan District) went to a fashion store on Tran Quang Dieu Street, District 3, to hunt for discounted clothes on Black Friday. Many women's clothes were discounted to 39,000 VND, 79,000 VND and 99,000 VND. However, she shook her head and walked out after 30 minutes without finding a suitable item.

“The clothes are mostly out of fashion, too old or made of really bad fabric. Some pants and shirts have very bad stitching or faulty zippers,” said Ms. Hang.

According to Ms. Hang, the feeling of shopping on Black Friday was quite disappointing and disappointing. Many of her friends also experienced the same situation, wasting time and quite annoying.

Ms. Ngo Thi Mai, owner of a shoe store on Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, District 3, shared that on Black Friday, the store took advantage of the opportunity to liquidate hard-to-sell, out-of-date shoes. Thanks to the 50% discount, the shoes sold very quickly. Revenue increased 2-3 times compared to normal days thanks to the Black Friday discount.

Mr. Vu Dinh Khanh, a communications and marketing expert in Ho Chi Minh City, shared that Black Friday is an opportunity for many brands to sell their “stock” or remaining business products. Therefore, consumers also need to determine their psychology before going shopping.

“Everything has its price, discounted products certainly cannot satisfy customers 100%. However, big, reputable brands should describe their discounted products in more detail when posting information on their websites and social networks,” said Mr. Khanh.

Big brands need to describe more about discounted products to help their large fan base have a clearer view of the sale hunt. Typically, brands need to provide preliminary information about the size and color of discounted products so that customers can easily visualize. This helps customers save time, increase trust in the brand and better brand attachment.

Black Friday is also known as "dark Friday". Black Friday is set on the first Friday after Thanksgiving (an annual holiday held in the US and Canada). Thanksgiving in the US is held on the fifth, fourth week of November, so Black Friday falls on the following Friday. Black Friday changes every year. This is the biggest shopping holiday of the year with many discount programs.

Black Friday takes place on one day, but the discounts and deals last for the entire following week. Retailers want to take advantage of the Black Friday shopping frenzy to do business. Therefore, consumers can shop for deeply discounted products during this occasion.
