Gia Lai: Destroyed 202 pigs infected with African swine fever in An Nhon Dong ward

(GLO)- On the afternoon of July 4, Mr. Phan Long Hung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Nhon Dong Ward (Gia Lai Province) confirmed: The local government has coordinated with the provincial Veterinary force to destroy 202 pigs infected with African swine fever virus (ASF) in accordance with regulations.

The pigs that were destroyed were raised by Mr. N.D.T. (Hao Duc area, An Nhon Dong ward) on his farm. Previously, Mr. T. discovered that many pigs had abnormal symptoms such as high fever, not eating... so he reported it to the local authorities.

Immediately afterwards, the Veterinary force came to inspect, took samples for testing and determined that the herd of pigs was positive for ASF virus, forcing the destruction of all 202 pigs according to regulations on disease prevention and control.

Currently, the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine is coordinating with local authorities to strengthen monitoring and inspection in high-risk areas. At the same time, this unit also provides technical support to people in safely re-herding pigs, ensuring hygiene and biosafety conditions.
