The workshop attracted the participation of 100 businesses nationwide along with representatives of management agencies, international organizations and wood processing industry experts.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Director of the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection Nguyen Van Dien said: In recent years, Vietnam's wood processing and forestry industry has made important strides. Wood and forestry product exports are becoming a key industry, with a turnover of over 17 billion USD per year, making Vietnam the 5th largest exporter of wood and wood products in the world .
In addition to creating jobs for over 500,000 direct workers in factories, the wood and forestry processing industry also creates livelihoods for millions of farming households participating in afforestation, contributing to promoting the development of planted forests and improving the lives of rural people.
However, to develop sustainably in the coming time, the wood processing and forestry industry still faces many difficulties and challenges. In particular, Vietnam's main wood and forestry export markets are increasingly tightening regulations on legal wood, explaining that they do not cause deforestation, forest degradation, biodiversity conservation; green production, and greenhouse gas emission reduction.
In practice, sustainable forest management, especially FSC sustainable forest management, is considered an effective solution to meet market demands.
At the workshop, delegates listened to presentations on: Developing wood product chains and guidelines for implementing regulations adapting to the EUDR Regulation; FSC wood furniture production chain in Gia Lai and development trends; FSC certification system and new solutions of FSC; FSC certification accompanying EUDR.
The discussions focused on analyzing the urgent need to expand the area of FSC-certified forests, complete the documentation of legal timber; at the same time, promote the development of large timber plantations to meet international standards.

Delegates said that the EUDR Regulation of the European Union sets strict requirements for imported products: not causing deforestation, having legal traceability, complying with the laws of the producing country and ensuring transparent declaration.
Although applying FSC certification and complying with EUDR is a big challenge, it also opens up opportunities to expand the market and increase the value of Vietnamese wood products in the international market.

The workshop is an opportunity for parties to share experiences and exchange solutions for developing a sustainable wood supply chain, contributing to forest protection, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and affirming the increasingly high position of the Vietnamese wood industry in the global market.
