Rice price today August 22: Fresh rice, export rice prices stagnate

The rice market is quite quiet today: fresh rice prices are stable, retail rice prices are unchanged, and rice exports are at a high level.

Domestic rice market

On August 22, 2025, rice prices in the Mekong Delta were basically stable. The supply of rice at the end of the crop was low, farmers mainly sold autumn-winter rice, and there were not many new transactions, so prices almost stagnated.

In An Giang , the amount of rice offered for sale is still low, and traders are cautious in buying. In Dong Thap and Tay Ninh, there is very little summer-autumn rice left, and transactions are quiet. In Can Tho, some households sell small-scale rice, and prices have not changed much. Ca Mau recorded ST rice prices remaining stable, while other types are stable.

Domestic rice prices

According to the update, the price of IR 504 raw rice is at 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg, OM 380 is around 8,200 - 8,300 VND/kg. OM 5451, OM 18 and CL 555 are kept in the range of 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg. Finished rice OM 380 and IR 504 fluctuates from 8,800 - 9,700 VND/kg.

In the traditional markets, rice prices remained the same as yesterday. Nang Nhen rice remained at the highest level of 28,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai 22,000 VND/kg, and regular rice 13,000 - 14,000 VND/kg. Fragrant rice such as Thai, Taiwanese or Jasmine fluctuated at 16,000 - 22,000 VND/kg.

By-product price

By-products fluctuated little, fragrant rice bran was at 7,600 - 7,700 VND/kg, bran fluctuated from 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg. Limited supply, weak purchasing power led to slow transactions.

Export markets

Vietnam's rice export prices on August 22 remained unchanged from yesterday. 5% broken rice remained at $399/ton, 25% broken rice at $368/ton and 100% broken rice at $339/ton.
