Domestic durian prices increase sharply

On September 23, 2025, the domestic durian market continued to witness price increases in many localities.

Notably, VIP Thai durian in Dak Lak has reached 120,000 VND/kg, the highest price since the beginning of the season. This is an attractive price for farmers, reflecting the high demand from both domestic and export markets.

In Dong Nai , Thai durian grade A fluctuates from 95,000 - 100,000 VND/kg, grade B around 75,000 - 80,000 VND/kg. Ri6 durian remains more stable, grade A fluctuates from 44,000 - 50,000 VND/kg, while Musang King still maintains a common price of 65,000 - 70,000 VND/kg.

In Binh Phuoc and Gia Lai, durian prices are also recorded high, ranging from 80,000 - 100,000 VND/kg for Thai type A. Particularly, Ri6 and Musang King varieties maintain a stable fluctuation range, ensuring competitiveness in the market.

Dak Lak and Lam Dong lead the price level

The Central Highlands region is becoming a hot spot for durian prices. In Dak Lak, VIP is purchased at 105,000 - 120,000 VND/kg, popular type A is 90,000 - 105,000 VND/kg. Lam Dong also recorded high prices with type A from 82,000 - 91,000 VND/kg, while Ri6 maintained at 44,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.

This price increase not only brings great profits to growers but also helps localities boost output for export.

Durian exports accelerate thanks to the Chinese market

China continues to be the largest consumer market for durian in Vietnam. Demand in this country is still growing strongly, especially when both Thai and Ri6 durian are popular with consumers.

To serve imports, a modern logistics center has been started in Dalian, Liaoning province. This project is capable of handling up to 10,000 durian containers per year, shortening the transportation time from Southeast Asia to Northern China by half. This is an important step, opening up opportunities to expand the market share of Vietnamese durian in the region of 100 million people, which has limited consumption.

Durian price outlook

With both domestic and international demand remaining high, durian prices are expected to remain positive. VIP and Thai A varieties are likely to maintain high prices, while Ri6 and Musang King are stable, suitable for both domestic and export markets.

Durian is affirming its position as Vietnam's key fruit, both bringing sustainable income to farmers and helping to strengthen the brand of Vietnamese agricultural products on the world map.
