At the end of the most recent trading session, world pepper prices recorded positive developments in the market.

According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 remained stable at USD 6,500/ton. Similarly, the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper decreased by USD 0.07/ton to USD 7,074/ton.

Vietnam's black pepper export price remains unchanged, with 500g/l reaching 6,600 USD/ton; 550g/l reaching 6,800 USD/ton.

Malaysian ASTA black pepper price remained stable at USD 9,700/ton.

At the same time of survey, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper reached 10,024 USD/ton, down 0.07 USD/ton.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged at 9,250 USD/ton.

In particular, Malaysian ASTA white pepper continued to move sideways at 12,900 USD/ton.

Brazil’s pepper export situation presents a mixed picture. Although exports in the first eight months of 2025 increased sharply in both volume and value, the imposition of high tariffs of up to 50% on Brazilian pepper by the US could pose challenges. This particularly affects the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil’s largest pepper producer and exporter. Although it accounts for only 1% of direct exports, the US market remains a priority due to its stability.

Brazil’s shift of exports to other markets, particularly Vietnam, could increase supply to the Asian market. However, this strategy is being closely monitored by the US and risks high tariffs if transshipment is detected.

In the first eight months of 2025, Brazil’s pepper exports to Vietnam increased by 186.3% compared to the same period last year. This shows that the trade relationship between the two countries is strengthening, but also raises questions about whether the large supply from Brazil will put downward pressure on domestic prices.

Updated latest pepper prices today in the Central Highlands and Southeast provinces fluctuate between 148,000 - 151,000 VND/kg.

In Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces, pepper price was purchased at 151,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is at 150,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg.

In Gia Lai province, pepper price today is at 148,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price in Binh Phuoc province is at 148,000 VND/kg, unchanged.

With this slight downward trend, domestic pepper prices are forecast to continue to move sideways or slightly downward in some areas. The imposition of high taxes on Brazilian pepper may force exporters to seek new markets, creating price competition.

If Vietnam continues to import heavily from Brazil for processing and export, domestic pepper prices may be affected by fluctuations in import prices.

Overall, domestic and international pepper prices may remain stable in the short term, but in the long term, policy factors and global supply and demand will determine the trend. Investors and pepper growers need to closely monitor market developments to make appropriate decisions.
