The Vietnamese pepper market is witnessing a period of sublimation in value, in complete contrast to the downward trend in output, creating an optimistic economic picture for this agricultural industry. According to estimates from the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), pepper exports in September 2025 reached 22 thousand tons, bringing in 144 million USD. This is an impressive growth: an increase of 2.5% in volume and 2.8% in value compared to the previous month, and especially a sharp increase of 28.6% in volume and 30.6% in value compared to the same period last year.

Looking more broadly, the cumulative achievements in the first 9 months of the year further highlight the position of Vietnamese pepper in the international market. Although the export volume reached 188 thousand tons, down 6.3% over the same period, the export value reached 1.27 billion USD, up sharply by 28.7%.

This "upstream" in value is explained by a key factor: the average export price increased by 37.4%, reaching $6,774 USD/ton in 9 months. In September alone, the export price reached $6,555 USD/ton, a slight increase of 1.5% compared to September 2024. Notably, the turnover of nearly $1.2 billion as of mid-September 2025 is the highest level in the same period ever, although the volume is the lowest since 2018.

World pepper price today October 2, 2025

The world pepper market today recorded an absolutely stable trend, with pepper prices of all countries including Indonesia, Brazil, Malaysia and Vietnam remaining unchanged compared to the previous trading session.

Indonesian pepper prices recorded a sideways trend in today's trading day, with a change of 0 USD/ton:

Indonesian Black Pepper price was stable at 6,979 USD/ton (equivalent to 184,567 VND/kg).

Similarly, the price of Muntok White Pepper remained unchanged, currently at USD 9,889/ton (equivalent to VND 261,525/kg).

The Brazilian market was also completely flat today:

The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper remained stable at USD 6,500/ton (equivalent to VND 171,899/kg). This price remained unchanged from the previous day.

Pepper prices in Malaysia continue to remain stable, with very high prices:

Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained stable compared to yesterday, currently remaining at USD 9,600/ton (equivalent to VND 253,882/kg).

In addition, the price of ASTA white pepper in this country also remained stable, continuing to maintain at 13,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 343,798 VND/kg), the highest price in the statistics table.

Vietnam's pepper prices of all types are stable compared to yesterday, with no fluctuations recorded in any segment:

Black pepper 500 g/l reached 6,600 USD/ton (equivalent to 174,544 VND/kg).

Black pepper 550 g/l reached 6,800 USD/ton (equivalent to 179,833 VND/kg).

Similarly, Vietnam's ASTA white pepper price remained stable compared to yesterday, reaching 9,250 USD/ton (equivalent to 244,626 VND/kg).

The Import-Export Department said that the pepper market in the short term is forecast to continue to be favorable for both farmers and businesses. Domestic inventories tend to decrease due to the end of the harvest season, while demand in Vietnam's main export markets is expected to increase.

Vietnam’s pepper industry is enjoying a “double advantage”: domestic pepper prices are rising, exports are maintaining a steady pace, and international demand remains strong. This is a positive sign after many years of fluctuations in the pepper market.

However, the agency also noted the increasingly stringent quarantine and traceability challenges from high-end markets. At the same time, the fact that Vietnamese businesses plan to reduce raw pepper imports for processing and re-export to the US due to high tariffs will further promote the focus on quality and branding for domestic pepper.

In this context, the upward price trend is expected to continue to support pepper growers and create new momentum for agricultural exports in the last months of 2025. In the long term, the industry needs to have a strategy for deep processing, brand building and market diversification instead of relying solely on raw exports to maintain a sustainable position.
