White leg shrimp price decreased by more than 50 thousand VND/kg

According to shrimp farmers in the province, the price of white-leg shrimp has decreased by 50-60 thousand VND/kg in the past week. Specifically, live white-leg shrimp of 30 pieces/kg on June 20 cost 135 thousand VND/kg, down 55-60 thousand VND/kg compared to last month. At this price, farmers can only break even.

The reason for the price drop is that the US Department of Commerce imposed a preliminary anti-dumping tax of up to 35.29% on Vietnamese shrimp, the highest level in 19 years, causing seafood exporting enterprises to reduce the purchase price of raw shrimp. In addition, restaurants, wholesale markets, and domestic traders also reduced their purchases, causing prices to drop sharply.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the white-leg shrimp farming area in the province is 337 hectares with a farming output of 3,255 tons in the first 5 months of 2025.
