As part of the activities of the 10th Hanoi Book Fair, on the afternoon of October 4, at the Ba Kieu Temple flower garden (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi), Omega Vietnam Book Joint Stock Company (Omega+) organized a discussion to introduce a set of 4 books about the family of General Thanh - General Vinh.

The book series “General Thanh - General Vinh's Family” was published by Omega+ in collaboration with the People's Army Publishing House on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. The book series consists of 4 volumes.
In particular, “Journey for Peace ” is a memoir by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, written from an insider’s perspective, recounting the arduous journey of the Vietnamese “blue beret” peacekeeping force. With a simple but profound writing style, the author not only depicts the strategic vision but also highlights the humanistic qualities and deep comradeship, through details such as the green vegetable garden in the field or the advice “safety is paramount”.
The book “Stories about General Nguyen Chi Thanh” was formed from the memories of the late Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and his family members about General Nguyen Chi Thanh, combined with the collection and compilation of content from many sets of documents and articles by researchers, writers, journalists and many family friends, with a common wish to preserve historical memories and indelible core values.

Each story is a small but evocative slice, honoring the General’s personality, leadership example and love for the people and soldiers. The simple, accessible narrative style, along with the rare photo appendix, further highlights the authenticity and strongly inspires readers, especially the younger generation.
The book “Nguyen Chi Thanh: Perspectives from posterity” is aimed at those who like to ask questions about history and want to explore history. Through the stories of other generals, close comrades, or in the memories of his family and working farmers who had the opportunity to meet or talk with the General, the life and career of General Nguyen Chi Thanh are recreated with noble qualities: A son of the nation, full of love and affection, ready to share all difficulties, and also resilient and indomitable before all enemies.
The book “Letters from North to South” is a collection of 73 letters written by General Nguyen Chi Thanh and his family over a period of nearly 20 years (1948-1967), from the resistance war against the French to the years of resistance against the Americans. Most of them are letters he sent to his wife, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Cuc, mixed with a few letters to his children and reply letters.
The letter also mentions many high-ranking officers and figures in the Vietnam People's Army - people who have left a strong mark in the history of the nation. In particular, the book also includes photos of some letters and photos of the General and his family members, contributing to making the work more intimate, authentic and meaningful.

The discussion highlighted the portraits of General Nguyen Chi Thanh and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh - two generations of father and son, two generations of generals, placed side by side in a whole. One was attached to the fierce years of resistance, leaving behind the example of a general who was "brave, loyal, close to the people, for the people"; the other continued that career in a new context, contributing to bringing Vietnam to participate in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force, affirming the country's position in the international arena.
At the seminar, Major General Hoang Kim Phung, former Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, with direct command experience, shared his perspective on the ideal continuity "from the battlefield of protecting independence to the international peacekeeping front".
Journalist Luong Bich Ngoc, representing the group of authors, recounted the process of collecting and compiling rare documents, including emotional family letters of General Nguyen Chi Thanh. Speaker Phan Dang analyzed how the book series evokes humanistic values, close to today's young readers.
