It is known that this is the first year that Vovinam martial arts has been organized at the Phu Dong Sports Festival in La Gi town. In 2023, Vovinam was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage, a sport imbued with the cultural identity and martial spirit of the Vietnamese people. Participating in this tournament were 368 athletes from 31 primary and secondary schools in the town. The athletes competed in two main categories: martial arts performance and combat (male and female) at the primary and secondary levels.
Accordingly, elementary level athletes will compete in the following events: Combat, Women's team boxing: Dragon and Tiger Boxing, Men's team boxing: Cross-Force, Women's solo: Dragon and Tiger Boxing, Women's solo: Cross-Force, Men's dual training: Dual Training 1, Women's dual training: Dual Training 1, Women's self-defense, Compulsory martial arts music, Optional martial arts music to compete for 24 sets of medals.
Secondary school athletes will compete in the following events: Combat, female bare-handed solo: Dragon and Tiger Fist, male bare-handed solo: Four Pillars Fist, male double practice: Double Practice 1, female double practice: Double Practice 1, female self-defense, female weapon solo: Essence of the Two-Wheel Swordplay, male weapon solo: Essence of the Two-Wheel Swordplay, female team boxing: Cross Fist, male team boxing: Dragon and Tiger Fist, compulsory martial arts, optional martial arts competing for 32 sets of medals.
Through the Vovinam Phu Dong Health Festival for primary and secondary school students in La Gi town in the 2023-2024 school year, the campaign "All people practice physical training following the example of great Uncle Ho" is aimed at promoting the movement of "All people practice physical training following the example of great Uncle Ho" among the youth and children in the town. At the same time, it contributes to physical education in schools, promotes the development of school physical education and sports movements, encourages students to participate in physical training, improves health , and meets the tasks of comprehensive learning and education.
