Medical practice licenses will be integrated on VNeID

(Dan Tri) - According to Dr. Ha Anh Duc, it is expected that medical practice licenses will be integrated on VNeID, helping to increase transparency, reduce procedures, shorten processing time and improve supervision.

On October 16, the Ministry of Health launched the National Management System on medical practice and treatment activities.

Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management (Ministry of Health ), said that the national management system for medical practice and examination and treatment activities was developed with the goal of implementing the task of building a database and management tools for practitioners as well as medical examination and treatment facilities.

Accordingly, the system will help manage practitioners from the process of training, licensing to continuous practice management. Manage medical examination and treatment facilities from licensing, adjusting information until ceasing operations.

In particular, the system will connect and integrate data, connecting administrative procedures with the Ministry of Health's Public Service Portal, national public services and other specialized databases, ensuring data is synchronized and connected between units.

The system also has statistical analysis and reporting functions to track human resource metrics, licensing status, and case processing performance in real time.

According to Mr. Duc, managing medical practices and facilities through the national system will resolve many shortcomings, ensuring that doctors and medical staff operate within their scope and each person has only one license, with the use of licenses managed nationwide.

All information about medical facilities, practitioners and licenses is managed on a single system, allowing for checking the scope of practice, license status, as well as processing or revoking directly on the system.

On the same day, the Ministry of Health and PATH in Vietnam concluded the project "Enhancing the use of medical oxygen and the respiratory care ecosystem in Vietnam".

Medical oxygen is an essential life-saving medicine, for which there is no substitute. Every year, between 1.5 and 2.7 million children worldwide require medical oxygen for severe or very severe pneumonia.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted long-standing inequalities in access to medical oxygen globally.

The Global Health Commission on Medical Oxygen Security estimates that 374 million infants, children and adults require medical oxygen each year, and this need is growing. With 82% of these patients living in low- and middle-income countries, there is a huge gap in access to medical oxygen that has been reported.

In Vietnam, access to safe, stable and effective medical oxygen remains a challenge in many health facilities, especially at the primary health care level.

The project “Enhancing the use of medical oxygen and the respiratory care ecosystem in Vietnam” has contributed to completing the policy framework and issuing the National Guidelines on establishing a medical oxygen system for medical examination and treatment facilities.

This guide serves as a unified technical basis, helping nearly 13,000 healthcare facilities nationwide design and operate oxygen systems that are appropriate to their needs, human resource capacity, or geographic location, and are cost-effective.

To date, more than 125,000 doctors and millions of patients will benefit from this training program.
